ERF 8 wheelers with Hymans Dodgems 2006

BAC/SEPECAT Jaguar T.2 XX145 ex ETPS leads ex Royal Navy (SHAR) Sea Harrier FA.2 XD610/N002 Starboard and N714 on the port and as marked from her time on HMS Invincible.

Behind them is the ex RAE BAC Canberra B.2(mod) WT133 about to fire up for a run with the mighty Nimrod MR.2A XV226 to the right.

Neither the Jaguar or the Sea Harrier are yet runners but good to see them here as their future is a lot more promising now than when the SHAR was rotting away previously down at Dunsfold - and the Jag can be seen as below....

Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, 9 November 2009

The most recent of only a handful of lorries to have been bought brand new by travelling showmen is this Volvo, delivered to Keith Emmett & Sons in 1996 and finished in a special-order metallic green with traditional hand-painted signwriting and lining. It has been used with many different loads and is still looking smart after nearly 15 years of service, as seen arriving at Campbell Park with one of the trailers for Keith's Dodgems.

Cambridge, 18 June 2012

This photo was taken after several hours of heavy rain, some of the puddles of mud were over a foot deep in places!

Photos from the funfair at Leeds Festival 2013, a very wet and muddy festival this year, feel sorry for all showmen involved.

I don't normally put my funfair photos on Flickr, normally my own website, www.southyorkshirefunfairs.co.uk - but since this isn't a normal funfair I've decided to put them on here instead.

Another shot of the Foden Alpha 3000 M11 440 XL, reg. no. W554 COM, operated by Stuart Danter & Sons hauling the 'Drivetime' dodgems ride for Danter's Fun Fair. This time it's hitched up to the ride itself which rides on two bogies. The fair was situated on the riverside in Newport, South Wales for the annual 'The Big Splash' event. The picture was taken on 15 July 2012.

This slow-shutter shot of a bumper car rink was exposed for about 3.2 seconds to create a soft-focus feel and turn the vehicle headlights into streams of light. I think this structure may be one which I previously photographed at the Leeds Valentine Funfair earlier in the year.

Thomas Emmett

Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, 25 October 2015

Emmetts have a different dodgem track in the usual position at Campbell Park this year instead of the fold-up version that usually attends. Initial consensus among enthusiasts was that it was the old Belgian Reverchon park model track that used to attend this fair some years ago but had latterly been resident at Wicksteed Park, refurbished with a repaint and new tilt. However, it turns out that is not the case and it is a similar track recently acquired from an as-yet unknown source.

Unseen image from Dad's collection, one of his wife (my Mum) Shelagh Rose and her bespectacled friend. Dodgems on Clacton Pier I think if not maybe the Kurzal in Southend ? . Late 1950's or Early 1960's. B&W 120 negatives. Original

The lone Teddy boy, maybe the last, he can't see the ruins of the fairground. He sees the punters ride the dodgems, the young girls screaming and the boys throwing their heads back and roaring with laughter. Where did his motorcycle go, wasn't he riding it just now?

Apparently this truck was originally owned and operated by Hanson Brick/Hanson & had a centre mounted brick crane. It was used on brick delivery based at the Peterborough Transport Depot.

Thomas Emmett, Dodgems

Deanshanger, 12 October 2012

This is another addition to Thomas Emmett's transport fleet but is somewhat overshadowed by the magnificent new Scania. A rare example of a HGV Iveco on the fairs, it was purchased to pull his fold-up dodgem track which has recently been converted from a drawbar trailer to an articulated load. and was a low-mileage bargain, having only previously been employed as a shunter.
