A seaside resort was developed by Sir Richard Hotham in the late 18th century on what was a sand and gravel, undeveloped coastline. It has been claimed that Hotham and his new resort are portrayed in Jane Austen's unfinished novel Sanditon. The resort grew slowly in the first half of the 19th century but grew rapidly following the coming of the railway in 1864. In 1929 the area was chosen by advisors to King George V which led to its regal suffix, by royal consent. Butlin's has been present in the town since the early 1930s when an amusement park and zoo were opened. A holiday camp followed in 1960 and this has more recently moved towards hotel accommodation with modern amenities.

This is developed in DDG with the T2D tool using the sunset image I posted yesterday as a base. No further edits.

As you can see the structure of the image is almost identical. This is an impasto palette knife version with the emphasis on the light reflections and flaming colors. To me this is a lot more alike to what I saw than the camera image. The sky was ablaze!

The sunset never really developed, but I'd taken so many photos already, that perhaps it was just as well. There are so many options on these beaches, you're never short of possibilities. Evidently chickentown, by John Cooper Clarke is fine, as it's got nothing to do with it, but it was ducks yesterday, so it's chickens today.

The New Merwede River: protection through depolderization

The Netherlands has long been associated with polders, ever since its engineers became renowned for developing techniques to drain wetlands or reclaim land from the sea and make them usable for agriculture and other development. This is well illustrated by the English saying: “God created the world but the Dutch created Holland.” In an unusual project, one of the famous Dutch polders is being handed back to nature. To reduce the risk of flooding on the New Merwede River, water has to flow faster when its level rises. A large-scale ‘depoldering’ project was embarked upon.

Taking place between 2011 and 2015, this project involves creating a floodplain at the ‘Noordwaard’. This is an area covering approximately 4,450 hectares — approximately 6,000 soccer pitches — in the province of Noord Brabant. Part of the Noordwaard will be ‘depolderized’, restructured and transformed into an intertidal area, through which large amounts of river water will flow to the sea.

Work includes the construction of creeks, dikes, mounds, bridges, pumping stations, roads and channels and a range of soil remediation operations. Sustainable solutions are characteristic features of the approach. Cooperation with local residents, businesses and stakeholders has been crucial to the success of this project.

The number of areas with dike protection in the Noordwaard was reduced and a new ‘Green Wave reducing dike’ was built. To spare the local residents from having to look out onto a higher newly-built dike, a 100 meter-wide willow forest was planted on the river side of the dike. Every other year the willows will be pruned back so that the stumps produce shoots which will catch a large part of the wash. By regularly replacing the willows they are expected to be able to absorb up to 80 per cent of the waves’ energy. Farmers and local residents were given the option of staying in the ‘depolderized’ Noordwaard by relocating their houses and some buildings to the tops of mounds to protect them.

The new landscape will be a resting place for birds throughout the year and the combination of the river discharge and the tides will create opportunities for major nature developments that are unique in Western Europe.

perhaps this is one of my favorite situations of my work, when a hundred years of life in one click of the camera shutter.

The story develops by itself, it remains only to silently smoke outside the edge of the frame ..

"..The Old Rock has always been here. But there were many worries, and I looked through it.. When we are young we all run.. Now my children and grandchildren drive cattle themselves. Having grown old, I look at these stones all the days, sitting in front of the yurt.."

They are bound, the old rock, and the old woman. Bound in this desert for a century. Soon the woman will leave, and the eagles nesting on this rock will peck at her body in the desert among these stones, as her mother and father too..

In the corral behind the yurt, a small white kid is closed.. he always wants to run... And a little boy, great-grandson, constantly runs away from the old woman to him too,

He is dressed in the clothes of a small girl - Spirits should not know for the time being..

- he is the heir of this old yurt, near the Old Rock

Noteworthy Characteristics

Leucanthemum × superbum, commonly called Shasta daisy, is a hybrid developed by Luther Burbank (1849-1926) in the 1890s near snow covered Mt. Shasta in northern California. Burbank crossed L. vulgare (European oxeye daisy), L. maximum (Pyrenees chrysanthemum), L. lacustre (Portuguese field daisy) and Nipponanthemum nipponicum (Japanese field daisy) to produce Leucanthemum × superbum which was given the common name of Shasta daisy. This hybrid typically grows to 2-3' tall with a spread to 18" wide.

► █░▓ THE VERY OFFICIAL MINUTE of the sunset for the day & place (May 24th at 21:39). However the cloud formation above the North Sea prevents the view of the whole sun. The result is an atmospheric phenomenon that only Stefano Zerauschek can explain. The word goes that the unstoppable Z appears all over the skies in Europe lately.

Mameda Town and its surroundings, which developed as a townspeople's land during the Tenryo period, retained a lot of land division at the time of residence, and traditional buildings remain well as a group, so the range of about 10.7 hectares was selected as a national important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings on December 10, 2004.

Also known as the Grand Theatre of Casablanca, CasArts is a multipurpose theatre developed in Mohammed V Square in Casablanca, Morocco. The biggest theatre in Africa completed in June 2018, the theatre hosts musical concerts, theatre plays and other large-scale performances. Estimated to cost MAD1.44bn ($148.91m), the project provides Casablanca with access to cultural and artistic activities. France-based architect and urban planner Christian de Portzamparc designed the theatre with Rachid Andaloussi serving as the Architect partner in Morocco. The new theatre is built on 6ha of land located in Mohammed V Square, a popular gathering spot for locals. It covers 24,245m² of space and includes the revitalisation of the surrounding areas of the square.
