The patterns on this poppy seed head struck me as interesting.

The Great Barrington, Massachusetts feeder rail, depot, and mills -- the elements of the local supply chain -- give way to rust.

Nature teaches us many lessons. Here, a tree that is aging and starting to decay still continues to grow and develop.

The ruins of the "Collégiale Saint-Léonard" (XI th century)

 

This collegiate church was built between 1082 and 1090 and burnt in 1794 after the Wars of Vendée. It is only known by the locals and has never been restored since the French Revolution.

In order to induce the process of decay, water is necessary.

North of Trondheim in Norway.

Heavily decaying bathroom inside an abandoned incenerator building.

This rotting and gross "Scaly Hedgehog Mushroom" looked like the perfect specimen for Macro Mondays theme; "Decay". The stem on the underside was covered in tiny microscopic bugs and one fat maggot. I think I went above and beyond this week, just to participate - it was soooo yukky.

HMM everybody - I hope you weren't eating when you looked at this image.
