i call this place hell house because i have taken lots of pictures very few have come out
most local people believe it is haunted
This is one of my favorite decaying doorways, with the additional, half-hearted paper and cardboard. I like the electrical cord going through the doorway. It also makes me sad, since I don't think any preservation is being attempted here.
There are several old cars rotting on the unused end of the tracks behind the historic Skunk Train station in Fort Bragg, Ca. An hour before sunset, the golden light brings out the personality in these hunks of metal.
Taken for Active Assignment Weekly for the week of August 11th to the 18th. The assignment:
Your assignment is to photograph decay. It could be that rusting car in the driveway, the house down the road in disrepair, the abandoned building near work or...
Decay can be defined in many ways - "To break down into component parts; rot.", "To fall into ruin", "To decline in health or vigor; waste away" or "To decline from a state of normality, excellence, or prosperity; deteriorate".
Restrictions: Post processing allowed for basic (lighting, levels, shadows etc) adjustments and cropping.
Dare: Rather than the ordinary examples I offered above capture Social Decay.
WIT: A very scary journey to the dark depths of my basement to search out the fabled rust on my water heater. I knew it was there, I just like to ignore it as long as possible. Saturation brought up a tad in Picasa. I plan to follow the dare in my next submission.
Strange, how 10 years changes a building on the West coat of Lewis
This used to be a coil hut for the Western Isles Decca chain in Bragar, used to come out with my father when he worked here.
Thought, it would have been demolished and removed when the masts were 5 years ago.
Seems to be used as a sheep shelter and a disposal area for pieces of an old loom?
Thanks to Johnny Cash for creating 'The Mercy Seat '.This one is dedicated to him.it`s reality on commentary.
"And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this weighing of the truth.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die."
Revival might be the answer.
Close-up detail of an old crane.
I met the owners of this property (posted No Trespassing). They were kind enough to let me in to take some photos. It was decay heaven and I'm thankful that they allowed me to shoot.
More decay, but worked as a 2D piece really.
But it remains a photo I suppose.

This is my second time photographing these two old wrecks and they've changed a fair bit in 10 months. Its a couple of Hudson '54 Superwasp's.
I always wonder why they're there and what their history is.
Decaying sign near Salton City -- a fading memory of when the Salton Sea was a major tourist attraction. I am surprised how few people know the fascinating history of that body of water (formed by a major irrigation "oops" in 1905).
