We Withdraw Our Signatures .

We are greatly pained by the leaflet issued by the SFI on 2nd February and the manner in which they have made use of the signature campaign which they conducted among students. As common students, we often sign on petitions in good faith, in support of issues on which a broad agreement exists within the student community. In this case, SFI gave us the impression that the petition was against ABVPs violence during the night of the Presidential debate and the biased nature of the proctorial enquiry. .

However, instead we have witnessed how SFI has been using this signature campaign to fuel an unfortunate campaign against JNUSU on issues on which JNUSU has already taken a principled stand. JNUSU has consistently been putting pressure upon administration to ensure that the perpetrators of violence on the night of the Presidential debate be forcefully dealt with. It was only due to the sustained pressure of JNUSU that the ABVP lumpens were punished in the case of violence against a senior PhD scholar in Lohit hostel. Furthermore, JNUSU has also taken a position on the biased character of the proctorial board and called for a change in its composition. .

In such a situation, we strongly feel that our faith has been misused to launch an anti-campaign, targeting JNUSU [which was not our intention] rather than the JNU Administration. We hold that this is not only unfortunate but unacceptable, forcing us to withdraw our signatures from the SFIs signature campaign. .

After a day and night of snow the sun came out for the last part of the day Friday. The snow will stay on the ground another night.

This shot was taken shortly before sunset on the first day of Pacific Daylight Time. Much to my annoyance, I found 4 different times for today's sunset. This was obviously too early, but I thought the clouds were worth it.
