Looking northeast from the Big Hill lookout in Stawell, this view showed the sunlit morning fog revealing one layer of trees after another. It was an amazing contrast to the opposite side of the lookout where the fog over the town was cold and blue looking and still very much in the shade of Big Hill itself.

This was one of those "super-moons" where it was at its closest approach to earth. Taken from the Big Hill lookout in Stawell, Victoria and looking over the area occupied by the Stawell Underground gold mine.

Mount Langi Ghiran, taken across a foggy landscape from the One Tree Hill lookout near Ararat in Victoria. The sun shone up here while the town of Ararat some 300 metres lower remained in the fog all day.

One from the archives of a wonderful trip through South Australia's vast Flinders Ranges region. This was taken from the jetty at Port Germein and shows the lower part of the Flinders ranges reflecting in the tidal sand flats on what was a lovely thundery day with frequent storms between periods of absolute calm!

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

A wonderful low cloud filled the valleys and low farmland north east of Stawell on this cold and starry morning. The Pleiades constellation was clear and bright just left of centre.

Under them skies of blue.

Thought of Tom Petty with this one.

Cumulonimbus with clear air lightning.

Took me over 13 years to catch one of these.

A stitched panorama taken on One Tree Hill lookout near Ararat in Victoria, looking across to the unmistakable outline of Mount Langi Ghiran in the distance. The low lying cloud or fog completely obscured the town of Ararat which would normally be visible in the right half of the image.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

One from the archives from my old home in Stawell showing a sunset that made us both come out for a closer look!

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

There was some amazing texture and detail on the underside of the cloud during this brief but intense sunset from a few months ago.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

We had a very unusual storm front drift over us a few nights ago, coming from the east. This is well against our prevailing wind direction down here in the Southeast of South Australia. It combined with a sunset to give a slight and momentarily scary look! In the end, all we got was a light shower and one single flash of lightning.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

Stawell's two tallest buildings, the town hall and the local Uniting church were the only parts of the town above the fog on this chilly mid winter morning. Taken from the Big Hill lookout that lies just to the northeast of the main town, this view is looking south and west toward the Grampians Ranges which are just visible on the horizon. The single clear line across the top is the main Adelaide to Melbourne highway and I am guessing that the steady stream of trucks and cars would be keeping it a little clearer. Also, the road itself is just a little bit higher than the surroundings.

The time on the town hall clock was ten minutes to eight (just in case you are trying to zoom in on it!)

This was a calm, yet stormy afternoon in Port Germein where small storms slowly developed but passed over quickly. I was mesmerised by the slow tidal movement over the sandflats half way along the Port Germein jetty. The crescent shaped bars of sand would quickly be swallowed up by the slight inward moving ripples which seemed to come in small sets. It is one of those places where despite having a fairly small tidal range, you can see the tidal movement as it creeps slowly in. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

This monster cloud was from a storm that had just passed over, but still looked very threatening, even in the gentle colours of sunset.

Taken with the "giant" camera in the previous shot posted - the Canon SX40.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

The thin clear line on the horizon made for a wonderful little spell of colourful sunset scenes as the sun briefly slid below the cloud.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

This view was taken from the end of the Port Germein jetty in South Australia, and looks across the top end of the Spencer Gulf in the direction of Port Pirie, showing the lower Flinders Ranges. It was a wonderful stormy afternoon that presented heaps of clouds and sun rays and little slices of rainbows such as this.

CSSS: Sunset Sunrise *Ambient Light* through the Trees

...

I'm not sure why I didn't upload this image in the summer when I took it. I was an incredible afternoon for photography, one that left me elated on my way home. The sky was putting on a show like no other for a few fleeting moments. Earlier I had been stuck in one of those rain bands and had given up because everything looked dull and gray. But then the setting sun was sinking below the clouds in the west and came up with the most dazzling display of light I seen in a while.

A flock of starlings regularly use our village's large TV antenna as a sunset viewing platform!

Doctors should prescribe views like this - much better for you and more effective than blood pressure pills!

A vivid canola crop and some nice wispy high cirrus clouds in an intense blue sky over the northern edge of the Grampians National Park in Victoria, Australia.

Sunset at sandspit beach Karachi, Pakistan

A shot of a storm taken at sunset from last summer, that missed us, but gave us a wonderful view of the setting sun lighting up the high cloud tops.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

This is a weather phenomenon that took place over the Grampians National Park on 17th January, 2014. A massive bushfire swept through most of the park and was so huge, it developed its own weather. There was smoke at the bottom of the image, then an amazing lenticular cloud topped off with a thunderstorm developing much higher. As I recall, when I took this shot, I was sheltered from the fierce sun under an umbrella and the temperature on our verandah had hit 51 degrees Celsius.

A little extra Sunday sliding has been applied for extra colour and contrast.

Brodie Castle is a Scottish castle ten Kilometer to the north-east of Nairn

and the family seat of the Brodie clan. It was from 1160 - 1980 in the possession of the clan.

Destroys by several wars, it was built up over and over again. Today is defeated

it to the care of the National trust for Scotland.

Also here this was in the inside area of the Castle take photos forbidden, what I very much

finds a pity, because the library is unique and radiates a quite special one

typical atmosphere from.

Part of a very angry looking storm front that passed over us yesterday. It was quite spooky looking for a while!

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

Almost half an hour later from the previous shot in the series, and the colours of the early sunrise had mostly gone and a dull grey day took over, but not before one last parting display of crepuscular rays shining through many gaps in the cloud cover.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

This was the rather ominous looking sky during sunset a few nights back! Although it looked dramatic, nothing came of it all. Just a nice show for five minutes.

Dipping into the archives for this amazing sunset from a couple of years ago. This was the view from my front door here in Mount Gambier.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

A very old (2010) selfie of a quick rest stop at the end of the Port Germein jetty which is almost a mile long. The day was cloudy with an odd shower or two, but a sudden rumble of thunder made me look around from my original posed forward gaze, and I quickly reconsidered my exposed position at the end of the long jetty.

In the absence of a small tripod, I used my wallet to prop up the front of the camera. It is a bad habit, and I have only left it sitting there once (but quickly realised and got back in time to pick it up!)

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

Just another five minutes had passed since the previous shot posted last week and the sky had changed yet again into what almost looked like a multiple sunrise, with red glows popping up in different parts of the sky and horizon.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

This was the sunset that reflected in my car windows last week. It was full of rich deep colours.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

For fellow flirckr followers, I am busy with visitors for a few days - will catch up with comments real soon!

A lovely sunset from a while back where the sky looked to be hand painted in soft gentle colours.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

A happy coincidence of two birds lining up and looking like a pair of eyes. The birds were galahs flying toward a bright sunset. There were many more but they "slid" out of the final image.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

Another little slice of last week's amazing sunset here in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

This old gum tree always added a sense of eeriness to this section of the Murray river, but was a real favourite perch for many birds all through the day, even starting before the sun came up. If you look carefully, there is one lone duck already watching for the sunrise.

Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!

Beautiful lightning from a pulse thunderstorm.

The last day of May brought with it some wild weather to most of Australia's southeast. This was the sight that welcomed me as I opened the front door first thing this morning! A chilly 5 degrees and a mix of rain and hail. The bright sun really did contrast with the threatening clouds approaching from the southwest. If you zoom in, you can just make out the first big raindrops glistening in the sun.

Thankfully, that is my kinda day - I love it. After the first hail stone landed in my coffee, I did dash back inside though!
