I am always fascinated by this view as we cross the Patullo Bridge from Surrey to New Westminster where our son lives now. I wonder if the people that live in these homes sit at their windows sometimes and just watch ...
I know I would :)

This is the second day of a 3-day charter over the US Sugar Corporation rail lines radiating out of Clewiston on the south shore of Lake Okeechobee. On this day, the charter ran on USSC's main line from Clewiston to Sebring on former ACL rails.
In this image, the charter train is making a photo run-by on the Caloosahatchee Canal swing bridge at Moore Haven, Florida. On this day, January 21, 2023, the four-car train is being pulled by USSC GP40 501, which began life as Milwaukee Road 184 in March 1966. It was later rebuilt to GP40-2 specifications. The locomotive at the other end of the train is USSC GP11 304, originally Illinois Central GP9 9198.
US Sugar has a vast operation out of Clewiston with about 120 miles of track. With 800 unique cars and a fleet of locomotives, the company hauls sugar cane from loaders on numerous branch lines to the large mill at Clewiston. "Cane jobs" work seven days a week bringing in the cane from the fields. Each job is powered by one locomotive handing 30 or 40 cars, each loaded with 40 tons of cane, about an acre's worth. A dozen or more cane trains work each day during the harvest.
