This is not a busy railway crossing, since Tasmania only uses trains now to transport goods - and most of those go by road anyway. But every so often a train comes along. They move slowly because we have a narrow gauge and the tracks are old. The effects of the infra red are obvious in the landscape.

SP 7614 has left Arizona and entered the state of California crossing the Colorado River on a bridge built in 1923. On the left is the Yuma Territorial Prison that I believe was a museum at this time. 8.87
Living dangerously in India. Although there was an overhead crosswalk for safe crossing from one railway platform to another at this train station in Bharatpur India, few of the locals were seen to us it. preferring this more direct and dangerous route. In Toronto, you would be arrested and fined for doing this!
The train has parted.
I say goodbye as I must,
but the memories will stay.
You always loved trains, trains that leaped across chasms, over silvery streaks of rail in the sky,
Trains whose backing up reverberated throughout the night in the train yard,
Trains that were named after famous people,
The miniature train that you held in your hands like a precious gem.
You always loved trains,
but I hate this train
that has
taken you
away
from
me.....

When a robot patiently waits for a green light, the city’s future quietly merges with the present.
In Zurich, autonomous delivery robots are being tested in public spaces to explore new solutions for urban logistics and mobility. The project is a collaboration between ETH Zurich, local authorities, and robotics companies such as Anybotics, who are jointly researching how robots can be safely and efficiently integrated into the city. Zurich is considered an ideal location for these pilot trials due to its innovation-friendly environment and modern infrastructure.
Our group of walkers carefully pick their way across a snowfield on Hohe Mut near Obergurgl in the Austrian Alps. The term "Mut" has long described a flat-topped mountain or hill. The view from the ridge to 21 3,000 m peaks and glaciers is breathtaking. A chair lift was opened on Hohe Mut as early as 1953. This was replaced in 2007 by an ultramodern 8-seater cable car system. Today you can conveniently reach the mountain station at 2.670m in nine minutes from the town centre of Obergurgl. But it's much more fun to walk! In the summer, the Hohe Mut Alm is an ideal base for easy hikes in the Rotmoostal and Gaisbergtal valleys.
Thanks for your visit and any comment you make on my photographs – it is greatly appreciated and encouraging! But please do not use this image without permission. Please contact me first.

Last shot from this trip, I promise. I struggled with this shot, I could not decide between a border or no border, this won but only just. I love other peoples b&w shots with borders but I am never certain on my own. I always think that the white border draws your eye away from the image.
The Dotsero Cutoff and Colorado River Road are incredibly close in some spots. Literally, road is adjacent to the ties in some spots. Needless to say this road provided some great photo opportunities such as these SD50s in October of 1997 crossing the Colorado River near Burns, CO
Our regular residents were crossing the pavement. Watch out for cars :)

The Tongariro Crossing is a very popular day hike of about 20km on New Zealands North Island. The trail passes in between Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Tongariro. The former can be seen peaking through the clouds in the background with Mount Tongariro's red crater in the foreground. Both are active vulcanoes and Mount Ngauruhoe was used as a location for the Lord of the Rings.
The Tongariro Crossing is extremely popular and the only way to see it as quiet as on this image is to set off very early, well before sunrise. We set off just before 5am and almost had the trail to ourselves. A fantastic day.
Is in the dark that you have to look , with disobedience , optimism and recklessness.

This weeks Saturday Night Special was shot on November 3, 1973. It's SOO 204A, 503c and 212A on a westbound crossing the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. There is no photographer listed and although I'm no handwriting expert the printing on the slide is nearly identical to another slide in my collection that was taken by Ed Kanak so I'm going out on a limb and going to credit Ed for this awesome shot.
