All that remains of the crossing cottage between highfields (bubwith) and foggathorpe ,looked on a couple of maps and cant find much on them but there is still a farmers track cutting through the site and over the old railway.

Here I am crossing the busy A57 which is fortunately quiet early in the morning. The good path leads the eye to Wain Stones and Bleaklow Head on a far and beckoning horizon. Soon I will reach "Doctors Gate" an old packhorse route linking the Woodland and Glossop vallelys, Doctors Gate is thought to be a Roman Road. With about ten miles completed I'm delighted with the weather but feeling a bit "psyched out" by the thought of all the miles that lie ahead.
