The hatch beyond the sailor in yellow is where we all entered from the flight deck once touching down on the Kearsarge. Since I boarded with VIPs I was treated to this welcoming gauntlet and red-carpet treatment. The colors represent different functions in the flight operations of the ship -- I'm not sure what they all mean just yet. The two Marines in green on the right are part of the flight crew for the helos.
Guyanese-American service members on board the USS Iwo Jima had a chance to reunite with family members during their deployment to Guyana. Here U.S. Marine Corporal John Eversley talks with someone from home.
For children in orphanages, the earthquake continues to affect daily life. Even for children who did not lose a parent, the trauma of the day continues to manifest itself in nightmares, frustration, and on-going fear.
To give the kids a positive outlet for this stress, we’ve started sending teams to local orphanages where they teach sculpture. Art gives the children a new way to express themselves after all the trauma they have suffered.

Different sequences providing varied camera movement enabled me to make some interesting compositions which I had not expected.
The top collage is a from footage of a follow shot with a slow pan. The tracking camera movement stretches the composition and elongates the box that Geoff jumped onto creating an almost panoramic image.
The bottom collage was created with stills from a whip pan. In addition I used a fish eye lens which is evident from distortion in the centre of the collage.
Last Spring I took a class at a local community college on Traditional Wet Masonry. We are building a curved wall as a part of a memorial. We laid the block, mixed the mortar, split the stones, and placed the stone and mortar. This is my section of the wall in progress. It is a pleasure to learn this craft.
Splitting stones is much harder than you might imagine. But when it goes, wow, what a great feeling.
I know both my mom and my sister have been waiting and waiting and waiting for me to get these photos up, most especially the ones of all the girls together. Hope they look alright!
Part 2, continued from Part 1: Thanks to Stephen Conway for inviting Jeff and me to be part of The Spiel's Spiel-A-Thon fundraiser! Not only did the event raise $3500 for The Spiel Foundation, but also helped show how play can be a powerful force for good in the world. See Stephen's FB post: www.facebook.com/stephen.conway/posts/10155922260039849
Thanks also to Stephen's new Spiel partner Doug Richardson, all the volunteers, sponsors who donated games and gaming celebrities!

Jeff and I had a ton of fun at the BoardGameGeek convention in Texas a couple of weeks ago. Huge thanks to the #BGGcon staff, sponsors and volunteers for making this event possible! I believe approx 3200 attended (possibly more?).
Feel free to scoop/share/repost/tag if know the people in the photo won't mind; a photo credit would be appreciated, thanks!
Feel free to share/repost for personal use, if you know the people in the photo won't mind. Also feel free to tag people in these photos but again, only if you know the people won't mind.
If you like board/tabletop games or want to know more, I highly recommend you checking out the amazing community over at BoardGameGeek.com/ They're doing their annual fundraising campaign right now (I just donated) and LOOK, one of the photos I took is at the top of the page: boardgamegeek.com/support I'm grateful to the BGG community for so many reasons. One of them: they supported me and my art years before any of my children's books got published -- I so appreciate their early encouragement of my comics. :-)
