Last Spring I took a class at a local community college on Traditional Wet Masonry. We are building a curved wall as a part of a memorial. We laid the block, mixed the mortar, split the stones, and placed the stone and mortar. This is my section of the wall in progress. It is a pleasure to learn this craft.

Splitting stones is much harder than you might imagine. But when it goes, wow, what a great feeling.

I know both my mom and my sister have been waiting and waiting and waiting for me to get these photos up, most especially the ones of all the girls together. Hope they look alright!

Thank for Allan who shared with me this "Playing Mantid". So I spent some more time to continue the seek and hide game after taken over the subject from Allan. It's actually quite friendly to me as trying to pose itself with different poses. So I took quite a number of it with various backgrounds as it was moving from one end to the other of the branch. When the Mantid was not in my favorite pose, I turned my camera to take the St Andrew's cross Spider, which was on a lower twig of the same branch as I mentioned in my previous post. After few shots, when I just moved my tripod, trying to take the spider with a different angle, I suddenly saw the Mantid moving toward the spider, and the spider did not aware of the danger. I realized that a predation is going to happen soon and trying to frame the spider as fast as possible. But the killing is so fast that it's impossible for me to capture. The Mantid used its forelegs armed with a row of long and sharp teeth to punch the abdomen of the spider and spider die immediately, don't even have any chance to struggling! After the killing, the Mantid continued to use its pair of strong forelegs to cut the spider piece by piece, chopping off the four limbs, and beheading, then the body   ... Poor Spider!! :(
