Continues as scheduled, despite the new puppy.

Windshield and rear window glass go in on Tuesday, the interior is painted and now the wiring can get started. It feels like we were dropped out on the course and had to go find the start line. I think we've now started the journey from the right starting point though.

I continue my draft work about the extraordinary alive park musicians in Shanghai.

I have explored the north of Luxun park. It was a cold and sunny Saturday afternoon. In an area of 50 meters wide, 20 musicians were practicing and trying to play together. I had some incredible talks with them as they were quite curious about this guy shooting them like if they were pop stars ! Of course I told them the truth and they conclude it was a great idea! Unfortunately I was not able to take the portrait of the drums as it was too dark at that time - the guy was funny and drunk, I should go back there to show them the prints and take complementary portraits this time.

Courtesy of a mountain wave, no doubt. Some see a rat, some see a car with exhaust puffs out the back. Some might even see a UFO, but they're weird.

I designed our ceremony program using InDesign and had a local printer print and bind them for me. It was a simple, square, 12-page design highlighting each part of the program and what it represented. Part of this was done because I thought the more our guests understood, the more they might appreciate our ceremony. The other reason I designed our programs is because I simply enjoy this type of digital DIY project. We put translations of all the drummers' songs in the program. They meant things like: "Thank you all for coming; we are so glad you are here" and "Thank you Mother for educating me and preparing me to live my own life, separate from you and with my new husband." The drummers played and sang as the guests sat down and as our immediate family members and we walked to the beautiful altar at the front, complete with columns, ivy, and a trickling fountain. They also played as Bill and I washed each other's feet (which helped avoid what could have been awkward time gaps as we were taking off shoes, etc.)

Continuing my visits of local churches, this church is located in the neighboring town of Elgin. It has some beautiful stained glass windows.

We were incredibly fortunate to have the presence of Paramahamsa Vishwananda during the Christmas season at Shree Peetha Nilaya Ashram in Germany. On Christmas Eve, we enjoyed a lovely evening meal together, which included many inspiring talks. Guruji spoke about the importance of not wasting time and to celebrate one's life.

Christmas day was also filled with a family vibe inviting everyone to get together and eat a delicious meal put together by the wonderful kitchen team. Talks were given and Swami Revati spoke about the importance of the Satguru.

At the end of the year, we had a gender split Darshan, which means there were Darshans just for men and another just for women. Guruji had spoken about the importance of coming together and setting up bhajan groups as well as the importance of not being lazy. Laziness is a quality that stagnates oneself on any path, be it material or spiritual and so one should not waste the preciousness of life.

On New year's Eve the Bhakti TV had again delivered an incredible programme filled with insights and talks from guests in house as well as those abroad. Kirtan interludes were given and those attending were able to enjoy the show whilst enjoying a few snacks. The night continued into the temple where rocking kirtan filled the air from 9pm up until midnight. The first arati of the year was given by our Paramahamsa Vishwananda. Everyone then moved to the upper field to enjoy a wonderful fireworks display and finally the night concluded with an incredible DJ set given by Rishi Amaranimai das where people danced to the name of God with Psy trance music.

The following day was of course the new year celebration where Guruji had performed abhishek on his personal deities. At the same time Sathya Narayan Puja was also conducted. Guruji had concluded the prayer with a talk on how one must learn to accept the will of God and that all is for one's own good.

In Balloch, by the shores of Loch Lomond, there is a 'Bird of Prey Centre' that I had discovered online and thought I might go visit.

*Might* being the key word, because I wasn't sure what the purpose of the centre was...

I wholeheartedly do NOT support the caging and 'owning' of wild animals (including humans), ever. I don't support zoos and envision a future where such places no longer exist, and rather wild ecosystem are generated, nurtured and protected. Where to site a wild animal is considered a deep honour and privilege, and not a right, as many people seem to consider it today.

On the centre's website, it stated their mission as being "To promote conservation by educating, paticipating and inspiring." So, in alignment with this intention, but still feeling unsure, I went ahead and tentatively entered the centre just earlier this morning.

What I was met with did not feel right to me at all: Great, wild birds, feet bound together like criminals and tethered to perches from which they could not fly away if startled or frightened - as one young bird was, of me. It was heartbreaking to witness.

I read through the plaques set before each captive bird, desperate for some kind of information that might validate the necessity for this majestic bird to be held captive in this disturbing way.

Surely there would be a story describing where the bird was rescued from, or why it was being bred in captivity here. Sadly no such stories are offered for each individual.

Also, many of the birds were in no way local to the region, (eg from Asia, the Americas, or distant parts of Europe), so I really can't see any ethical reason why they were there at all, as they were not appropriate species for release into the local ecosystem.

I began to feel distress rising up through my being, and the need to leave.

Shame for having come there at all.

Relief that I hadn't ended up spending more money than the 8 pound entry fee for an 'Experience'.
