Continuing this summer's theme of "biggest ever", I swear to God, this was the BIGGEST, most massive elk that I've ever seen, which isn't really clear from the pic. But compared to what I've seen so far this summer, and from the distance that I took this photo compared to other pics...hUUUuge!!!! It was crazy, so many people just agog, creating a big elk jam where the elk was spotted, across from Cory Pass parking spot, along Hwy 1A, near the Hwy 1 junction, Banff.

A threat to the continued existence of Bermuda's junipers arose in the mid-1940s when the species was attacked by two species of scale insects, Lepidosaphes newsteadi and Carulaspis minima, which were unintentionally introduced from the United States' mainland. By 1978, these predators had killed 99% of Bermuda's junipers, some 8 million trees. However, the remaining 1% of the trees proved somewhat resistant to the scale insects, and efforts by Bermuda's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Parks to plant young junipers from this resistant strain throughout Bermuda have saved the trees from extinction.

As of 2013, the old Imperial Oil property at the foot of Broad St. has

sat deteriorating for well over a decade. You'd think SOMEBODY

might have some use for it! Big potash sheds in the background

have blocked views of Courtenay Bay and the outer harbour since

the early 1980s.
