Continued hazy, smoky skies over California this day. Air quality here around the Bay Area was affected due to the numerous wildfires burning in and around NorCal, especially the raging Mendocino Complex fire. Mendocino Complex fire has grown to become the largest wildfire in California history as of Monday, August 6, 2018... A wildfire burning through NorCal became the state’s largest on record, scorching more than 283,000 acres. The Mendocino Complex blaze — a conglomerate of two separate fires burning through rural Lake, Colusa and Mendocino counties — overtook last year’s Thomas Fire in SoCal. The fire began on July 27 and was spurred on Monday by an ominous high-pressure system that brought hotter, drier and windier weather to the area. The fire has destroyed dozens of homes & other buildings and had threatened more than 11,000 structures. Mandatory evacuations had remained in effect at the time across Mendocino, Lake and nearby Colusa counties, though some people were allowed to return home, Cal Fire said. It was unclear what caused the blaze at the time, but the fire was one of more than a dozen burning amid record-setting heat waves in the drought-stricken state. The ice continued to fall all morning after a recent snow in Yosemite, CA. A loud thunderous crash would sound every few minutes. Sometimes I could witness the ice falling and hear a delay of the sound as it was far away. This image celebrates the waterfall by duplicating the ice fall with a refractor lens. It is a beautiful icon for the valley combined with the thunder as it slowly disappeared until another storm.
