What is going on here? Well, these are temporary supports which are needed when the remaining old trusses of the monorail right-of-way are being taken down and new ones are set up. This is part of a huge renovation project which started in 1995. The complete infrastructure of the 13.3 km long monorail line had to be replaced after 100 years of service. About 95% of this undertaking have already been finished. As of July 2012 the dismantling and reconstruction of the eastern terminus of the line has begun. This includes the renewal of the train shed with the storage sidings. The shed will be replaced by a modern construction which will be designed more or less in the traditional style. It will be much longer than the existing hall.

Nederland, Zuid-Holland, Nieuwe Waterweg, 28-09-2014; Functioneringssluiting Maeslantkering. De waterkering in de Nieuwe Waterweg wordt een maal per jaar, voordat het stormseizoen begint, getest. Tijdens het sluiten van de kering ligt alle scheepvaartverkeer naar de Rotterdamse haven stil. Foto richting Noordzee. De Maeslantkering sluit normaal gesproken alleen bij dreigende stromvloed en bij een waterstand van 3 meter of meer boven NAP. De kering, onderdeel van de Deltawerken, vormt samen met de Hartelkering de Europoortkering en beschermt Rotterdam en achterland bij extreme waterstanden.

Am 12. Juni 2016 war ich mit Freunden im Berliner Bezirk Mittezwischen dem Kupfergraben sowie der Baustelle des „Berliner Schlosses“ bzw. „Humboldtforum“ unterwegs und habe dabei diese Aufnahmen gemacht.

Bauarbeiten am S-Bhf. Yorckstraße (Großgörschenstraße) - S1 - für den Austauschen der alten Brücken des Gleises Richtung Wannsee / Potsdam finden bereits seit vielen Monaten statt und sind inzwischen abgeschlossen; jetzt ist die Gegenrichtung dran.
Vor vielen Monaten wurde endlich ein Baustellenschild aufgestellt und ein Ende der Bauarbeiten tatsächlich für den 20.12.2014 (!) angekündigt. Lassen wir uns überraschen mit wie viel Verspätung dieses Bauprojekt erledigt wird.
Damit niemand mehr die Terminüberschreitung merkt, wurde Mitte März 2015 das Baustellenschild wieder entfernt!
Inzwischen gibt es Veröffentlichungen, die als Endtermin für die Bauarbeiten das Frühjahr 2015 bzw. September 2015 nennen. Mal sehen was dann stimmt!
Die „Deutsche Bahn AG hat natürlich nicht den Termin geschafft, denn bis zum späten April 2015 sind die Bauarbeiten immer noch nicht beendet! Aber vielleicht warten „Sie“ ja auf die Beendigung der Bauarbeiten im alten „Nordsüd-S-Bahntunnel“ am 3. Mai 2015, um dann alles zusammen wieder freizugeben?!

Waiting some time to shunt back and forth with the empty cars.
The railway line I use is closed over the weekend due to track replacement work in one of the single track sections.
When the construction work was on its way during summer 2007 a platform was erected high above Kaiserstraße. It provided additional space for the storage of construction material and tools. On top of that it protected bicycle riders, pedestrians and car drivers from being hit by any falling material.
Some months back, Parks and Recreation sponsored a contest to find out which shade would be good for this part of Grand Park. The biggest vote went to a series of large paper airplanes. I had thought work would soon start after the winning design was announced, and we would have some nice shade during lunch on our famously hot summer days. Nope. Now that we are leaving the official summer season (autumn in three weeks), work is now only beginning on the project. The frame was set in place on Friday before Labor Day. I got this photo before eight in the morning, while we had some uncharacteristically overcast weather -- uncharacteristic from southern California standards.

Merknad: Theisendammen er en dam i Ilavassdraget, bygd eller oppført på slutten av 1700-tallet av kanselliråd Simon Lorentz Thaysen, som ønsket å sikre sitt møllebruk vanntilførsel. Den 27 mai 1791 brøt den sammen og gjorde stor skade på Ilavassdraget. Fra 1889 brukte vannverket den som vanninntak, men er i dag bare en reservedam med en kapasitet på 2,2 mill. m3 per år.
Den har hatt forskjellige navn opp gjennom årene, Nedre Kobberdammen, Mølledammen, og Bagersætherdammen. I dag brukes den til sportfiske av ørret, gjedde og mort.

a camera team from WDR (local broadcasting station) is on location taking scenes for a report of a WWII bomb found in the ground of a school. During defusing the traffic was stopped and the nearest buildings had been cleared and the people evacuated.
The following photo was taken twelve hours later at almost the same place.

Idle construction works for coastal protection in Niendorf (Ostsee), municipality Timmendorfer Strand, district Ostholstein, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
Due to the snowy weather the construction works had to pause nearly throughout the whole winter.
Cardinal Place, Victoria. The site itself actually consists of three buildings covering an enormous space of over million square feet. The £200 million development was built directly over the District and Circle line underground tunnels which amazingly actually pass through the basement. The buildings rest on rubber shock absorbers to avoid vibrations from the train upsetting shoppers and their retail therapy.
It looked like this on Monday, July 27. The help and information desk is empty of files and books and is ready for demolition. The new desk will be to the left of this photo. Anyway, despite the dust and noise, people (like me) are still able to go into the library and use their facilities and check out books, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes and audio books.
Oh, and the clock stopped working some time back. I shot this at two in the afternoon. The library never opens until ten in the morning, one in the afternoon on Sundays.
