Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) offered their services and facilities and helped with the construction of new buildings as well as providing water, food, clothes and shelter for those who lost everything.

De kering, onderdeel van de Deltawerken, vormt samen met de Maeslantkering de Europoortkering en beschermt Rotterdam en achterland bij extreme waterstanden.

A view of the large floating platform in the Marina Bay area in Singapore with the Mandarin Oriental hotel in the background and some metal structures in the front and a crane as a part of some construction activities. This Float@Marina Bay is the world's largest floating platform, and is also known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform, being located on the Marina reservoir in Marina Bay in Singapore. The platform is larger than a soccer field, and is made of steel. The seating at the gallery on the float has a seating capacity of 30,000 people and can bear a total weight of 1070 tonnes. The platform measures a length of 120 meters and a width of 83 meters. The stadium was created in the year 2007 and has been used for a number of different events such as concerts, exhibitions, arts and cultural performances, and sports events. The stadium was used for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. One reason for the location of this platform was because of the incredible skyline of Singapore seen from here. The platform was initially designed to use 200 pontoons, but the design was modified to finally use 15 pontoons.

Bauarbeiten am S-Bhf. Yorckstraße (Großgörschenstraße) - S1 - für den Austauschen der alten Brücken des Gleises Richtung Wannsee / Potsdam finden bereits seit vielen Monaten statt und sind inzwischen abgeschlossen; jetzt ist die Gegenrichtung dran.
Vor ein paar Monaten wurde endlich ein Baustellenschild aufgestellt und ein Ende der Bauarbeiten tatsächlich für den 20.12.2014 (!) angekündigt. Lassen wir uns überraschen mit wie viel Verspätung dieses Bauprojekt erledigt wird.
Inzwischen gibt es Veröffentlichungen, die als Endtermin für die Bauarbeiten das Frühjahr 2015 bzw. September 2015 nennen. Mal sehen was dann stimmt!
Sollten Sie doch noch bis zum 20. Dezember 2014 fertig werden?
Melody and I often pass the corner of Hudson Avenue and Newhall Street on our way to either our credit union or a major postal facility. We had been recording the progress of the painting of the mural for some time. On this particular Wednesday mid morning we stopped to shoot the mural in its final stages. An added bonus was the preparing of this corner in the foreground for upgrade. After I captured this image of the overall area, I went across to the following corner and chatted briefly with the muralist. Her name is Briana Fleming and you can see a photo in the following slide of her atop her ladder while she painted the final strokes of her mural.

What is going on here? Well, these are temporary supports which are needed when the remaining old trusses of the monorail right-of-way are being taken down and new ones are set up. This is part of a huge renovation project which started in 1995. The complete infrastructure of the 13.3 km long monorail line had to be replaced after 100 years of service. About 95% of this undertaking have already been finished. As of July 2012 the dismantling and reconstruction of the eastern terminus of the line has begun. This includes the renewal of the train shed with the storage sidings. The shed will be replaced by a modern construction which will be designed more or less in the traditional style. It will be much longer than the existing hall.
