The London Underground tube station at Tottenham Court Road, first opened for Central line services in 1900 with the 'Northern line' joining it in 1907 and having under gone various changes in the last century, is now being massively reconstructed to allieviate conditions that were pretty grim for both passengers and staff. New entrances, ticket halls, escalators and platform links are being constructed - alongside the wholly new Crossrail facilities that come into use in three years time. It is a massive job. I went on a site inspection so these are taken legitimately!
An unusual view of the old station supervisors office at TCR (you can see the old black and white tiles!) - about 30m underground - this is the breakthrough from what was until recently solid clay backing that massive brick wall that has some very odd constructional details!
This time we publish a photo of our #CAT385 on site back in 2010 when we used to dismantle a reinforced concrete roofing of a Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant, situated in a small town not so far from St.Petersburg. @Uniwagon is a leading new generation freight cars manufacturer in the CIS countries. The plant is considered to be one of the most large-scale objects in the European machine building industry on the amount of investment, production facilities and high-technology capacity.

I AM AWAKENED AT 7AM EVERY WEEKDAY [BY CONSTRUCTION WORK DIRECTLY OUTSIDE MY BEDROOM WINDOW]
I cannot believe how long this project has been in progress. One of the builders told me that they will be onsite until mid-2017 and that did surprise especially as a development that I had hoped for was not included. The area where the red containers are located [see my photographs] has been a derelict area for many years and has been a base for serious and often dangerous anti-social activity. My understanding was that this derelict area was to be built on as part of the museum project but according to the builder it is a separate project to be undertaken by Na Píobairí Uilleann and he suspects that it will not happen because of a lack of funds.

Henrietta Street is considered to be one of the first and finest planned Georgian streets in Dublin. Its development spans 1729-1758. Amongst its qualities is the rare level of its preservation both as a street and in terms of individual houses, in particular the interiors. The street has survived in spite of its various and in some cases, deeply destructive incarnations.
We campaigned for years to have Henrietta Place resurfaced and after about fifteen years the road was resurfaced twice within a period of about six months and the work was completed shortly before the builders arrived onsite to begin work on the museum. I am not too confident about the quality of the street surface after the builders depart.
As you can see from my photographs work has resumed on the multi-million Greystones harbour and marina development project, with the first of more than 350 new homes expected to be offered for sale by April 2016. Because of the weather I did not photograph the new houses. The project has already seen the old Victorian era harbour replaced by a new structure with south and north piers, a large marina and ongoing work on five new clubhouses for sea scouts, divers, sailors, rowers and anglers. Also included in the project is a coastguard station, a new town square, a 16-acre public park, a new beach and marine-related shops and leisure facilities. It should be interesting to see if the ‘Public Areas’ are truly public and if the remain so for more than a year or two … I say this because there are many signs indicating that Fishing, Swimming or Jumping was not allowed. I will visit again later in the year, assuming that the weather improves.
Hydraulic shears are designed to get the best out of demolition operations aimed at breaking down and removing building structures in reinforced concrete. This equipment is suited best to crush concrete for its efficiency, precision, low-noise and low-risk of damage for the buildings situated nearby demolition site. Federal Engineering Group "Razmax" is an experienced contractor for demolition and redevelopment works from St.Petersburg with a geography of projects over 10000km across Russian Federation.

New Street looking north from the High Street during the ongoing 'Tindal Square and Market Road Public Realm Improvements' construction works taking place thru January-October 2022 in the City of Chelmsford in the County of Essex (UK).
New Street is temporarily one way during the works as the road is just too narrow for bus routes on diversion and two way traffic.
Tindal Square and the surrounding area including the historic Shire Hall which is included in the project feature numerous times elsewhere in my photostream.

A new entrance to the new underground station called State Library will open here later this year. I hav been watching this project closely. In theory it will create 'turn up and go' train times at my local train station.

Frederick “Ski” Colton Weld (1891-1944) studied art in Chicago and supported himself by working as a staff artist at an engraving house. He was inducted into the U.S. Army during the First World War where he directed a program in the art of camouflage. After the war and a failed marriage, he created stage settings and costume designs for the Roxy Theater and the New York Music Hall.
In 1936, Ski Weld became a newspaper artist for the King Feature Syndicate and, by 1937, began to paint covers for “The Ladies Home Journal” and “The Saturday Evening Post,” the world’s largest-circulation slick magazine. He also painted covers for the pulp magazine “Love Story” from Street & Smith. His last published illustration was the cover of the January 24, 1942 issue of the Post.

The place where I took this photo is not far from the site where the first Neandertal man (Homo neanderthalensis) was found.
Bandhavgargh, Madhya Pradesh. Rural Indian women do a surprising amount of hard physical labour in the hot sun, from before dawn to late at night. These women and colleagues were doing hard construction labour at the site of new road building. Their colourful and delicate traditional dress seemed to jar with the dirty sweaty work, but they seemed happy enough and engaged in friendly banter with me. They were also at ease with being photographed.
This set of photos was taken in April 2015 not 2011.

Parallel to the Central line access and running tunnels, and with links through to the new Crossrail station, this is one of the newly constructed deep level passageways at TCR being used for material and spoil transport before being fitted out for passenger use. The sheer scale of these new passageways, as against the original small diameter subways, is astonishing.
