The building was the third church to be built on the same site. The second church was razed to the ground by a fire in January 532. Construction commenced on the present building on the 23rd February 532, culminating in its consecration on 27th December 537. Between 537 and 1453 it served as church, initially as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral (537 to 1204), then as a Roman Catholic cathedral (1204 to 1261), before reverting to the Eastern Orthodox faith (1261 to 1453). Following conversion to use as a mosque in 1453, it remained in use as a building for prayer until 1931. After renovations and deconsecration, the building reopened in 1935 as a museum, which it remains to this day.

I made this bomber with the dark green parts that I have. It´s very simple, but so was the first plane of this kind.

It was the world's first cantilever wing four-engine heavy bomber and 1930, it became the most advanced piece of machinery ever to grace the skies.
Because it carried more payload than anything flying at the time, the TB-3’s fuselage was designed with reinforced steel bars in all sections. The airframe structure was very similar to the ones utilized by the German aircraft manufacture Junkers, using corrugated sheet and very thick wings.
As advanced as the TB-3 was, it still employed several “old fashion” structures like the open cockpit and the fixed landing gear.
3 open defensive positions were carried, each armed with two ShKas 7,62mm machine guns. Bombs could be carried under 100kgs were carried inside the fuselage and larger bombs were carried under the wings.
The pilot and co-pilot sat in a side-by-side configuration separated only by a rudimentary windscreen. In all, almost 500 TB-3s, in various versions, were produced, including transport, paratroop carrier and torpedo-bomber.
During the 30s, the TB-3 bomber was a real strategic menace to Europe and Japan in the Far East. A few of these bombers could, for example, destroy Tokyo with incendiary bombs and return to Soviet Union after that.
The TB-3 was also used in several special projects as a fighter mothership in the Zveno Project carrying two I-16 fighter-bombers armed with two 250kg bombs each. On 1 August 1941, a pair of TB-3s in Zveno configuration, destroyed an oil depot with no losses. On 11 August and 13 August 1941, Zveno-SPB successfully damaged the King Carol I Bridge over Danube in Romania.
Outdated and outclassed by the time of the German Invasion of URSS, the TB-3 did carry out a number of interdiction sorties, with heavy losses. Soon, the bomber was removed from front line service. Although outclassed as a bomber, the TB-3 did made a useful contribution to the Red Army war effort as a troop transporter.

Model of a mining excavator in front shovel configuration in scale 1:28.5. This 300 tonne machine is a representative of Liebherr's most popular size class and is ideally suited to load a fleet of 100 tonne payload mining trucks.
When LEGO introduced its 42100 Liebherr R 9800, I knew I had to get that set immediately after release. But I also knew from the beginning, that I would not like the official model's Technic design and that I had to build my own version.
Here it is, scaled larger than 42100, but on the other hand representing a much smaller machine than the 9800. About 300 vs. 800 tonnes in real life. This allowed me to use the main components of the official LEGO model to build my R 994 B. I used the clamshell bucket, the Power Functions XL actuators and the tracks and sprockets.
The main difference from 42100 lies in the electric components of my model. The following functions are all powered by two Power Functions rechargeable battery boxes and controlled by three SBricks via bluetooth connection and Brick Controller 2 app:
- Left and right crawler treads each using a Power Functions L motor
- Slewing of the upper structure using two Power Functions M motors
- Boom cylinders: one Power Functions XL motor
- Stick cylinders: one Power Functions L motor
- Bucket cylinders: one Power Functions M motor
- Clamshell bucket: one Brick Engine V1 motor (compatible to Power Functions)
- Access ladder: one Power Functions M motor
- Service flap: one Power Functions M motor
- Lighting: three pairs of Power Functions LEDs
Besides the main drive and digging functions, the model features a retractable access ladder and a lowerable service flap on the underside of the upper structure frame. The service flap is used to refuel and grease the excavator.
While building the Liebherr R 994 B Litronic in 1:28.5 scale, I could refer to a highly detailed diecast model of the very same machine in 1:50 scale.

Obviously, the placard, let alone the magnificent model, along with the Saturn C-1 “clustering” sequence graphics in the background, and it being from 1960 - leads me to believe that all of this was set up for President Eisenhower’s dedication of MSFC that year. That, along with whatever other VIP visits likely to have been hosted then. Note also the ‘spoked’ circular items in the background, those being the ends used of the fixtures/jigs/dollies(?) used to hold/transport(?) those first-stage H-1 engines. In fact, I believe the red nozzle of one of them…is seen directly behind/under the placard.
