A composite of the transit of Mercury (11th November 2019). Imaged in white light with a Fuji X-T2 and 100-400 plus x1.4 converter. This gave a 35mm equivalent of 840mm focal length. The spacing between images is a little out due to those pesky clouds! It's also a shame that the Sun is so quiet at the moment - a few sunspots would have added further interest to the composite.
practised some compositing in Photoshop for the sake of trying something new and having fun with photo processing
Composite of shots of the total solar eclipse seen in Greenville, South Carolina, USA. August 21, 2017.
Just beginning to get into compositing images. This is one of my first tries. Though flawed it does show the direction that I'm trying to go and the learning curve on this one was pretty difficult. My grandson loves it though.
week #39
And another movie themed photoshoot for this week! This time no more blood or vampires. We went for a action photoshoot. Christine got in touch in May asking if I was open for a creative photoshoot. I'm always open to do creative photoshoot!
So we worked on several concepts and all were movie related.
We meet up for a coffee and discussed the concepts more in depth. We were thinking about starting with another concept but we things didn't go as we planned so we decided to go with the action movie photoshoot.
The goal was to get close to action movies starring female actress like "Wanted" or "Colombiana". Christine managed to find 2 bikes and guns replicas (thanks to her friends) and we scouted for location. We wanted something not too "public" because of the guns. Even if we used replicas, we didn't want to have any trouble.
After we found the location, we had to find the accessories, the outfits and props. We went to a first shop were we found the perfect outfit...but they were only selling stuff and we wanted to rent it. As the budget wasn't unlimited, we went to another place.
The best place ever. We found anyone we wanted and the price for renting was more than reasonable and fitted the budget.
Christine picked me up after work and we went to the location we scouted to meet the guys and start shooting. Unfortunately, we didn't notice the first time we went there that it was a private property with security cameras...
So we had to find another spot! We found another place not too far from our first spot and we started to shoot.
The guys were ok to play the bad guys so it was just perfect! The shoot went well and some people take us in pictures. Lol. They probably thought we were shooting something big.
We had some fun time and some good shots.
I went with another poster for this week with a composite. We didn’t had the budget to make a real explosion (Lol) so I took an explosion picture found on the net, and the picture of city is one of mine.
Have a nice week!
And yeah, I went crazy on the editing...

Moonrise over Mulund, Mumbai. Composite of 4 photos taken between 12 and 15 minutes apart, with the same exposure and locked tripod. It's cold up there on the terrace!
The colors are completely natural. The contrast has been tweaked, though.

A composite shot I worked on for an online competition. They provided the RAW file of a Lamborghini shot in a bull fighting stadium and we could do anything we wanted to it. I ended up with this Sin City stylecomposite.

Lighting info:
Elinchrome strobes. Two large soft boxes on the sides with one overhead beauty dish for fill. Two black cardboard cards were placed just in front of the camera to the left and right to prevent lens flare.
The model was shot on a grey seamless. The background is a HDR image shot with three images, -2, 0 and +2. The images were tone mapped in Photomatix and combined in Photoshop.

The assignment for class was to create a life size composite self portrait printed on inkjet paper. Mine didn't turn out life sized, but I have a cat in my portrait so it is okay that I'm small! Each picture needed to be taken with a low res camera. I used the mirror option on my iPhone.
This image utilizes 4 different images.
1. the car itself
2. the background (road and mountains)
3. Clouds
4. Light leak overlay
Composite of my photo of Kitt Peak's Mayall Telescope with star field added to opening. From 35mm slide Oct 1989; starfield shot in 2011. Changed interior lighting to simulate night.
My previous image, "The Girl in the Cafe" was a composite of two separate images. I generally take several clicks of a subject that I notice (as most photographers would do). This way I get more than one version of the foreground and background. Then with my limited Photoshop skills, I am able to combine the best elements into a desired composite.
Admittedly, I enjoy the creative freedom that Photoshop enables.

This is just a composite of two images (mine on the left, Steve's on the right) of the same lightning strike captured several miles apart.
For other great shots from Steve of this, as well as many other storms, click on his name above, or, check out his website (which I'm sure he'll appreciate more) for more stunning pictures of lightning and other weather phenomena.
Multi-image composite of this evening's sunset (8:15 p.m., CDT), just after a storm front moved through (we didn't get any rain, but the clouds were beautiful).
For this composite, I left off the top row of images for a more panoramic appearance but with less sky.
