I was trying out some of the lessons from chapter 1 and 2 of Photoshop Compositing Secrets by Matt Kloskowski. This book is worth every penny, I highly recommend you add this to your photography library shelf.

I used Photoshop CS5 to add a very slight HDR effect to the group of people in the photograph using Nik Softwater's HDR Efex Pro. I then selected and moved the subjects out of the original photograph and moved them into the HDR photograph that I used for the background. The selection of the subjects from the original photograph took me about 2 hours to do because I really wanted it to look good. The hard spots were around the heads and in between people. The background HDR photograph is composed of 5 bracketed shots that were merged together and processed in Photomatix 4. When I'm cheating and applying an HDR effect to single file, I tend to like using HDR Efex Pro. If I'm merging a set of bracketed shots togther, I always use Photomatix 4.

I welcome your feedback & critique? Compositing is one of the techniques I plan to master.

Another composite, this time of the Macdonald Hotel and some shots I've taken of it over the years. Time to go back maybe.

Just playing around with a photo taken at a recent body paint event. Thought it would be fun to put the bug in a jar.

Jar in the composite is a stock photo as I didn't have a photo like this on hand that I've taken.

After a bout of street, I wanted to play around with compositing, and photoshop. Its not something I've done a lot of, theres quite a few videos out there. The model is Niamh Fitzsimons from an Offshoot session a while ago.

The Joy of Processing

Shot for Shack Assignment #33: Going Pro, where I assigned myself the task of shooting a magazine ad for a Mazda3.

This is by far the most overprocessed and overworked thing I've ever done, but I think it came out ok.

It was shot by compositing 30 individual shots together using Nikon CLS and a SB-600.

Tonight I've completed three tasks that I've never performed before. Shooting the moon, shooting the stars and building a composite.

Composite of three smoke images.

This is a photo of Tori when Les and I were trying some different ideas using our 50mm and 85mm lenses. This image was taken using my 85mm macro lens. Using my new Tablet, I did skin softening, eye brightening, added eyelashes and liner, put a little powder, blush & lipstick on Tori. I then blended her onto a different background.
