my husband runs a computer business and he has a store full of bits and pieces! He tries to recycle as many computer components as he can and always has a vast collection of 'stuff' (the technical terminology is everything!!)

Motherboards and expansion cards, all broken and useless, waiting to be deconstructed and recycled.

The Oscilloscope I bought a couple of months ago dead for £15.00p restored it , had it certificated & calibrated and pat tested, next quick project was my component tester , for quick checking, pictures explaining them selves, remember in our hobby the only thing stopping you is Yourself I love my hobby Amateur Radio & Electronics.

A contemporary necklace using vintage components and coral beads. To start with, coral tear drops have been fastened together to form a flower blossom with a single pearl added to the center. A long trail of rice shaped coral beads follow along as the stem of the flower. A single vintage flower ends the coral motif. The necklace is further embellished with vintage gold leaves and white freshwater pearls. At the clasp you will find two white pearls wire wrapped on both sides of clasp. Lovely gold plated rolo chain anchors the necklace.

First the image was converted into a set data vectors in format (x,y,r,g,b), one for each pixel in image.

Then this 5D-data was projected to 3D-space using principal component analysis, The resulting image was rebuilt based on that reduced information.

I grabbed a few electrical components, with the view to make some LED light painting rigs.

My knowledge of electronics is pretty poor, so I may be on a steep learning curve during the summer when the main study is reduced.

It was nice to get a small circuit up and running. Sadly, when I asked the "expert" at the electronics shop if I had everything I needed, he failed to tall me that for LED circuits you need a resistor to control the flow of power. All hail the power of Google...

The silver seatpost and stem irritated me, so I replaced them with a couple of black components I had lying around. The seatpost (from the Shiromoto) only has about 20mm offset instead of 35mm offset, so I had to compensate by putting on a 100mm stem instead of the 80mm one that I had (and I had to pull the decaleur receiver as part of this process, because the receiver slots fouled against the bottom of the stem.)

Still no rack, but maybe I'll get some time to work on it this weekend

Last year I promised my twelve year old that we would build a gaming PC together. In August 2017 I bought a Gigabyte GA-B250M-Gaming 3 "Micro ATX" motherboard (on Amazon) together with a load of other components. Two weeks - and before we had started the build - my mother passed away abroad, and I spent much of the next few months dealing with that, and a new job. We eventually got around to the build in November, and the Gigabyte performed wonderfully, just as it said on the box. In early December I acquired a MSI gaming motherboard - a full sized ATX that better filled the Corsair case that my son was using - and so we rebuilt the PC on the MSI.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Gigabyte GA-B250M-Gaming 3 - it's just superfluous to our needs, and we don't have the space to stash it away. It's only been used for a month and is essentially new in every respect. The photos speak for themselves.

Components all laid out with solder paste. The big square chip there is the expensive accelerometer. It's kind of freaking me out because there's no real way to apply solder paste by hand for the tiny pins — you basically need a stencil or something. So, I took the advice of those more experienced and did a trick where I applied a tiny-tiny amount of solder to each pin — basically a pin-prick of solder+flux. That was a bit messy the first time. The second time I was a bit better. And I got to try a third time because on this board (SFE — Sparky) I completely misplaced the chip — I had it turned the wrong way, which was a really dumb mistake. So, I had to remove it with hot air, and then clean up the mess, then reapply pin-pricks of solder, then heat it on again but with hot air.

What the..?

I removed the bolt holding the fender in place and reused that hole, which saved me from having do drill extra holes in the fender and also placed the light in the most appropriate spot. If I hadn't modified the case, placing the light here would have covered the GB badge.
