The Start point of the Lyke Wake Walk. The Lyke Wake Walk is a 40-mile (64 km) challenge walk across the highest and widest part of the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire, England. The route remembers the many corpses carried over the moors on old coffin routes and the ancient burial mounds encountered on the way; the name derives from a lyke, the corpse and the wake - watching over the deceased. Its associated club has a social structure, culture and rituals based on the walk and Christian and folklore traditions from the area through which it passes.
Highlighting the College’s strong academics, healthy finances and resources available to students and community members alike, College of DuPage President Dr. Ann Rondeau welcomed nearly 200 local leaders and other constituents at her inaugural community breakfast. Emphasizing existing strong partnerships between COD and numerous local entities, Dr. Rondeau offered her hope for continued collaboration and challenged guests to consider the endless potential for future endeavors.

our first day on the Cape was marked by clouds, rain and cool temperatures. We wound up sleeping most of the day. Saturday dawned as a beautiful summer day so Ian, his mom and I decided to bike the Cape Cod Canal before picking up his younger brother from work at the National Marine Life Center. Some of you may recognize this from last December when we walked out here after Christmas.

I adapted this from Ina Garten's Sole Meuniere recipe. I can't find Sole at my local market, so Cod will have to do. It was quite good and didn't make my house smell fishy.

During a late afternoon drive on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I happened upon this colorful cranberry bog which was being harvested.
Cranberries grow on plants at the bottom of the bog. When the berries are ready for harvesting, special machines are used to shake them from the plant (onto the bottom of the bog). The bog is then flooded causing the berries to rise to the surface. The workmen then guide the berries to suction pump stations (see Cape Cod 04) where underwater hoses carry them to waiting trucks.
