Had some fresh batter-fried cod at the SLIPPERY OTTER. The new owners have taken over the unsuccessful brew pub that was there and are turning it into a restaurant. It's not decorated. It's not finished. It's a mess - for now. But they were kind to me, (and any of the neighbors or visitors that are wandering during the shoulder season.) VERY GOOD.
I like this though it didn't turn out quite as I had hoped. The guy casting was Dutch who spoke very good English. He showed us his catch of fresh cod. And explained that fishing off this worlds longest wooden pier in Oostende was much better years ago. the fish were bigger and more plentiful.
Long Trail parking area on Codding Hollow Rd. Actual trail head South is about 200 yds. farther on (east); trail head north is just beyond that.
Gary's now made two of these, for us and for friends. They can be any color - stain, paint, wainscotting - and any hardware treatment. The inside is protected to hold food or extra pet essentials. I'm working on him selling them this summer!
