Crunchy outside and gooey inside, this was my first time using coconut oil AND agave.

So it's like, kinda healthy? SURE.

Best texture ever? Absolutely.

I have been playing around with the Espresso Brownie in La Dolce Vegan! for awhile now, so this is an adaptation of a million other adaptations. The coconut oil and agave made this batch really smooth and like, buttery? It's incredible.

Just having some fun trying my hand at liquid soap making. Started yesterday and finished it up today.

Original recipe is from the Canadian branch of the California Walnuts Commission. I cut down the recipe since I only had one egg and tinted the shells green and the filling yellow for a Springtime feel.

My recipe

My take on smitten kitchen's Double Coconut Muffin. I kept the coconut oil and sweetened shredded coconut and used full fat buttermilk. I was inspired by 101 cookbook's Blackberry Macaroon Tart so I added blackberries and lime zest to my batch of muffins.

Sugar-less, wheat-less, butter-less, egg-less...so what else is left of these cookies?! The good stuff, apparently. Carnival cookies from 101 Cookbooks' Super Natural Cooking are packed with dark chocolate, cacao nibs, popcorn, and peanuts. All held together with a mixture of banana, coconut oil, oat, and ground almond.

Yes, vegan.

Krissy got distracted by her red Hunter boots.

Playing around with another cold process soap. I've been wanting to try adding pumpkin to the soap and I've been wanting to attempt a swirl....We shall see how both of these turn out tomorrow. This soap came to gel stage very quickly, I'm guessing this particular fragrance oil helped to speed up the whole process.

My recipe was for four pounds of oils, so I figured a four pound loaf mold would work fine..so that's all I had lined. After pouring and swirling that one, I had to do a very quick emergency lining on my one pound mold and get the last bits of soap poured into that before it started to set up. Lesson learned, I know better than to use a new untested recipe without having some form of back-up mold on stand-by.

Oatmeal and Honey Handmade Soap

Wonderful, natural oatmeal and honey. No added coloring or scents.

It's good to let your soap air out between uses for a longer lasting bar. Store your handmade soaps in a cool dry place letting them breathe. I cut mine in quarters to make them last longer :-) and this way I can use a different soap everyday - yay me!

Hand crafted soaps are so good for your skin. No added chemicals and all the natural glycerin is retained. I'll never go back to buying store bought chemically infiltrated soaps.

Allergies? Please read the listed ingredients. Thank you.

Like brown rice, red rice is minimally processed to retain more of the fiber, vitamin, and mineral content of the original rice kernel. This particular variety - Pachchaperumal, named for its resemblance to the fabled color of the Buddha’s skin - has a deep, rich burgundy color when cooked. It is high in proteins and is said to have been the staple of the great armies led by semi-mythical chieftains known as the “Ten Great Giants.” The rice is considered divine and often offered as alms, gratitude offerings or in vows seeking rains or protection of crops. Also it has been used as a remedy in ayurvedic healing. It is delectable and provides a distinct grain eating experience not to be missed!

Coconut and Apricot Seed Scrub

Get ready for the ultimate low-glycemic sweetener! Unlike sugar, honey, and even agave syrup, this natural nectar won't spike blood sugar levels. Yacon's sweetness comes from low-calorie, low-carb FOS (fructooligosaccharides) that taste sweet but won’t affect blood sugar levels. FOS can’t be digested and absorbed into the body, so they don’t have the effect on metabolism that other sweeteners do. More than just a sweet-tooth pleaser, FOS are known to promote vitamin absorption, regulate metabolism and act as a prebiotic by stimulating growth of friendly intestinal flora.

My tentative foray into gluten-free holiday cookies. These no-bake snowballs is made with coconut, coconut oil, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and a touch of heavy cream. I made them smaller than the recipe indicated to yield 16.
