Huangyaguan (Yellow Cliff Pass) lies on a steep and abrupt mountain ridge, and got its name from the yellowish hills and rocks nearby. To the east there are cliffs, and to the west crags. The Great Wall at Huangyaguan encapsulates the essence of the Great Wall, with outstanding architectural variety and some of the unique features of the Wall.
With various forms of watch towers along the walls, the largest tower on the Great Wall, Phoenix Tower, and the most unique castle, Bagua (‘Eight Trigrams’) Castle, Huangyaguan Great Wall is considered to be a miniature representation of the whole Great Wall with the greatest variety contained within one section.

I photographed this young Cliff Swallow a couple of weeks ago out at Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge in an effort to help a friend improve his skills at getting wing shots. It was a lot of fun tracking these little ones and it was pleasing to come home to results like this.

Panoramic view across Lake Gormire and the Vale of York from Whitestone Cliff, North Yorkshire.
Our first photo trip of the year - and not too far from home (about 30 minutes). A look to the west in early afternoon suggested that there might be some colour at sunset so we headed down to Sutton Bank and walked along to Whitestone Cliff ((or White Mare Crag as it's sometimes known). We were treated to a lovely, if short-lived, sunset as the sun dipped between the clouds and horizon. The only disappointment this afternoon was that the cafe was shut at the National Park visitors Centre when we got back to the car park.

View of the Bay of Naples... seen from the clifftop downtown of Sorrento, coastal town in southwestern Italy... in the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula.
The Amalfi Coast (Province of Salerno) is a 100-mile stretch of coastline. Boat tours were available (in 2019) to cruise along the Sorrento and Amalfi coastlines.

Probably one of the most beautiful and, surprisingly, one of the most spiritual places I've ever experienced.

Spring Break 2013
When Cliff Swallows land they do not stop moving. Their wings are constantly quivering and they are always on the move. This image is a minute moment in time (1/4000 of a second to be precise) with birds coming in and taking off, "Control Chaos" if you can believe.

7827 'Lydham Manor' skirts the cliffs above Saltern Cove with the delayed 11:15 Paignton-Kingswear service on 11 July, 2024. This has yo be one of the best locations on the line: from here in the morning or from Sugar Loaf Hill in the late afternoon. Just occasionally you strike lucky with train, tide and sunshine!
I'm ending my Ireland album with my favourite view from this travel (although I'm trying to show some variety...)
Ponta de São Lourenço is one of the last nearly untouched places in Europe. Located in the eastern part of the island, this is the place where a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature created one of Mother Nature’s masterpieces.

The Bempton Cliffs reserve, on the spectacular Yorkshire coast, is home to one of the UK's top wildlife spectacles. Around half a million seabirds gather here between March and October to raise a family on towering chalk cliffs which overlook the North Sea.
The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's top Visitor attractions. The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometres over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare. O'Brien's Tower stands proudly on a headland of the majestic Cliffs. From the Cliffs one can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, as well as The Twelve Pins, the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara and Loop Head to the South.
That would be a tourist info part , from my own experience, January 1 is not a good day to visit as it is COLD & WINDY like ..... I was hoping that I was dressed well enough but still the wind goes right thru you and looking at some people – nuts ( I mean they will be looking for them like old squirrel) . Ireland is beautiful but traveling in this time of the year can be difficult as the most of us in the family are sick. It was really grey day and it took me a while to bring some textures to the sky . This is the northern side of the cliffs , lesser know .
