The WCM5 was a watershed locomotive for the Indian Railways, being the first locomotive of any kind fully developed and built in India, and Incorporating the best features of the previous models. The WCM5 had a shorter nose, a bigger body, locomotive-specific window arrangements and regenerative braking and double-pan pantographs
The WCM5 was the mainstay of the Mumbai area up to the 1990s, hauling important express trains. They then started failing en-masse in the mid 1990s, and were all retired shortly later. The first WCM5, Nr. 20083, was named “Lokmanya”, and was the first-ever (out of a total of 21 units) Indian-made locomotive, assigned to the prestigious Deccan Queen. It was eventually scrapped, but sister locomotive, Nr. 20103, is on display in New Delhi
West Midland Railway Class 172 No. 172339 passes a West Midland Metro tram at St Paul's, Birmingham. In the distance, a Class 68 diesel and 7029 Clun Castle stand alongside each other at Snow Hill station.
Class 20 No. D8317, a member of the home fleet, hauls Class 117 DMU vehicle Nos. W51363 + W59510 + W51360 towards Hayles Abbey Halt during Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Steam Railway's Diesel Gala on 27th July 2018.

Class 37 37407 is pictured in the sidings at York catching the evening sun and awaiting its next duty (or a good clean!) on October 30th 2021.
Birmingham New Street, March the 30th 2023. On platform 10,170516 makes up the rear of a four car set just arrived with the 14:39 from Hereford whilst on the right on platform 9, 170117 is ready to leave with the 16:18 to Nottingham, meanwhile 170114 pulls out in front with the 16:09 for Leicester.

Class 27 1300 chuffs merrily on it's way to Weybourne from Sheringham, on the North Norfolk Railway. April 2009.
Dating from 1952 and originally numbered 13005 and then D3005, Class 08 08002 was pictured on Doncaster MPD on October 16th 1977. It had been withdrawn the previous month and was eventually scrapped at Swindon Works during January 1978. It carries a DR shed sticker but in 1955 it was allocated to 67C Ayr.

Crewe-based Class 47 47191 (formerly D1841) heads towards Healey Mills with a tanker train. Take from the station, which only serves the Leeds line.

Class 08 shunting locomotive 08631 is seen at Crewe, the loco is operated by Locomotive Services at Crewe
40122 heads back to Carlisle with an evening freight, near St Helens, Flimby in early 1984 as twilight gathers over the Solway. It was the twilight of the class 40s too, although 40122 - as a celebrity - would be kept going for another four years, by this time the loveable dinosaurs were effectively finished.
The art class of Miss Yoshimura Yui proved to be very successful...

CSXT 2544 is tied down for the night at Rockdale after completing it's duties for the day. This unit was originally built for Seaboard Coast Line in 1973, one year after the GP38-2 begun production, making this a relatively early specimen.

This is the only perseved 3 car class 126, comprising of DMS Sc51017, DMBS Sc51043 and TC Sc59404. Now restored, it's seen at the Bo'ness Railway at their diesel gala day, about to do the only run of the day.
Class 117 DMS W51397 leads 3 car set L418 at Slough forming 10:52 Reading to Paddington service.
