Furry Butterfly: Silver-spotted Skipper, work in progress. I'm so excited! This is my first attempt at scratchboard and I love it! It's the final project for the Ink Explorations class I've been taking. When I know a bit better what I'm doing, it'll go on a 5x7 clayboard along with the somewhat furry-looking Joe-Pye-Weed flowers I photographed one feeding on, two summers ago at the NC Botanical Garden -- though my primary model is the one that had sat on my finger a few days earlier while I was shooting trees near my house. I fell in love with the fuzz, and how it sat there and let me shoot and shoot.
Detailed right down to its heated rear window, high-level brake light and alloy wheels, this 1/72 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is an amazing little model. Made by Hongwell and purchased around 2005. Mint and boxed.
