Preserved Brush Type 2 Class 31 A1A-A1A diesel locomotive 31438 ready to depart Ongar Station with the 2E23 13:55 service to North Weald on the heritage Epping Ongar Railway (EOR) in Essex (UK).
31438 was built by Brush Traction at the Falcon Works Loughborough and entered service as British Railways D5557 on October 15th 1959.
31438 was withdrawn from mainline service by British Rail in September 1995.
Absolutely adore Class 31's. Cut my young trainspotting teeth on these in this British Rail blue livery at Chelmsford station on the Great Eastern Main Line in the late 1970s.

Direct Rail Services Class 37 locomotive 37605 slowing down to stop at Chelmsford Railway Station on 5Z41 Norwich Crown Point- Wolverton Railcare/Crewe IEMD convoy working with Class 90, 90009 and DVT 82152 dead in tow. 82152 was later left at Wolverton works and 90009 was taken on to Crewe.
37605 first entered service on April 24th 1962 as D6736

This model of Dickens Class Mk2, RASC General Service Launch was built and photographed by Mr Robin Hepworth and is based on the former Newman Noggs now the African Queen.
Paul McCartney once owned a Dickens Class (Barnaby Rudge) which he used as his private yacht.
So I admit that I've gone a bit overboard with stud.io, and I built a class 68. The headlights are missing, because I could not make them fit in without the front looking derpy. The livery is simple as I'm not building the DRS compass out of Lego - I'm only slightly insane!
Class 116s were a rare sight at Guildford and on 3 January 1987 a set has managed to get here on the 1015 from Reading.
It's been 50 years and life is better than ever. Brophy thanks the Class of 1962 for spending part of the celebration weekend on campus.

DB Class 66 No.66154 passes Upton Scudamore,with the 08:46 Westbury to St Blazey via Salisbury RHTT working,on the 6th of November 2024.
Siemens (Praha & Uerdingen) Class 350/1 "Desiro" outer-suburban 25k v ac overhead 4-car emu No.350 128 of London Midland but still in the Central Trains/Silverlink Joint "West Coast" livery and unusual split yellow warning panel, leaving Euston on a Northampton service, 01/08.
National Express East Anglia 'dusty bin' Class 321/4 EMU 321436 still in London Midland Silverlink livery and part of a 12 car set rockets past New Hall halt near Chelmsford (UK) at about 90mph hence the blurriness.. ;-)
The '50 Farewell' railtour was powered by D400 and 50007. Standing smart as a button and looked on admireingly by enthusiasts is 50007 shortly after arrival.

British Rail Class 158 'Express Sprinter' 2 car Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 158886 waiting to depart with the 1R60 16:57 (16:57 RT) East Midlands Trains service train to Manchester Piccadilly at Norwich Station in Norfolk (UK) on July 19th 2018.
This train arrived at Manchester Piccadilly at 21:53 some 17 minutes late.

Unidentified class 317s approaching Cambridge working 0858 from Liverpool Street passing 387110 and 387107 working 0857 Kings Lynn to Kings Cross near Cambridge on 3 September 2017.
Memory a bit vauge on this one, but I think this is 90027 at Sandwell and Dudley in early 1989 working a Cross Country service.
On 20 September 2003, 508203 stops at Paddock Wood on the 1700 Maidstone West - London Bridge via Redhill. Class 508s are no longer used on South Eastern.
Just been looking at 'Life Stinks' excellent picture of one of these locomotives which he took in the quarries near Buxton. Typically of me, I hardly ever photographed the class, I suppose I thought that they'd be around for many a year yet particularly if judged by the standards of the Brush built class 47 forebears. How wrong, the vast majority of the 60s are now withdrawn or mothballed... and I've got half a dozen shots!
Three years ago, Mrs 'R' persuaded me to take her to this mystical place at the top end of England called Northumberland to which she'd never been, a place which I'd always held in high regard due to interest fostered over the years by visits to relatives who lived near Morpeth. This was a chance encounter as we drove south, we'd seen 60 096 looped a few miles further north, and Warkworth crossing was the only convenient point which I could find in a hurry. ... Yes, I was standing on the public right of way!
