BREL (York) Class 319/4 (ex-319/) 25k v ac overhead/750v dc 3rd rail Standard Mk.III outer-suburban 4-car emu No.319 444 (ex-319 044) of First Capital Connect still in "New Thameslink" livery (introduced just before the franchise went to FCC, so few 319's were painted in the livery) on a Brighton - Gatwick Airport - Bedford service approaching London Bridge, 10/07. Adtranz (Derby) Class 170/5 "Turbostar" 2-car dmu No.170 519 of Arriva Cross Country in AXC rebranded Central Trains livery at Peterborough on a Birmingham - Stansted Airport service, 03/08.

Direct Rail Services (DRS), a subsidiary of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) leased Class 66 locomotives from Porterbrook. Previously, they had relied on a fleet of ageing second-hand Class 20, Class 33, Class 37 and Class 47 locomotives. In 2002, DRS ordered ten Class 66/4 locomotives from EMD. These were delivered in 2003, numbered 66401–410, and are employed on new Anglo-Scottish traffic, some with Stobart Rail. They are painted in a variation of DRS's blue livery, with two locomotives, 66411 and 66414, in Stobart Rail livery. More locomotives have since been ordered, with ten (66411–420) again T2 style spec locos, delivered in 2006 and another ten (66421–430) delivered in late 2007. As of 2008, DRS had another four locomotives (66431–66434) on order.

DRS have now returned 401-10 as they are high emission locos thus meaning they are the newest fleet set to reach storage.[when?DRS 66s now see regular work on Nuclear Flask trains running from several locations as Carlisle Kingmoor, Sellafield, Crewe, Dungeness, Willesden, Seaton and Berkeley. This is due to the ageing class 20s needing major overhauls. Most are now in storage or on hire to GBRF to deliver new LUL stock

Greater Anglia Class 156 'Super Sprinter' 2 car Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 156419 awaiting departure to Cromer and Sheringham at Norwich station in Norfolk (UK).

Our train to Sheringham! I have to say information about this train at Norwich Station is poor with 2 people asking me whether this was the train to Great Yarmouth including one on the train!. ( think it was the camera that done it ;-)

I have to say though for anyone arriving at Norwich and changing for this train without entering the concourse I saw no information on destination or departure time for this train. You are left to work it out for yourself.

I had positioned myself for this photograph, expecting it to be a class 40, which was the regular motive power for this service (the Skegness-Manchester Piccadilly). The 37 was a bit of a disappointment, but many years later it was still a good sighting.
