It's hard to believe now that these Schuco models were once readily available from Wilkinsons and cheaply too. Really well detailed for their scale such as this Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Mint and boxed.

BR 2-6-0 Class 2MT No. 78022 built in the finest locomotive works in the world in 1945 and seen in the display shed at Oxenhope Station
Darlington works was responsible for building the entire fleet of 65 engines and for the time construction of the LMSR and BR designs overlapped. The last No.78064 was completed in 1956 but the class remained intact for just seven years. Coincidently the first to be withdrawn No.78015 was a Darlington-based engine.
T9 Class 4-4-0 No 30729 awaits its fate at Eastleigh having been officially withdrawn March 1961.
Also in the picture is LMS Ivatt Class 2 2-6-2T No 41310 which still had another 3 years in service.

British Railways (Midland Region) 2-6-0 Class 2 No. 46521 runs round her train at Loughborough Central
This locomotive was originally preserved at the Severn Valley Railway and was the star of BBC TV Drama series 'Oh Doctor Beeching!' when it was named 'Blossom'. She hauled three carmine and cream Mark 1 carriages over Victoria Bridge and into/out of Arley Station, which itself was renamed 'Hatley'.
After a brief hiatus at the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012, the Venice Boulevard bike lane adjacent CIM Group's Mid-city Crossing project makes a glorious return.
At the January Great Central Gala I managed a cracking hour or so at the shed early on and was able to take in the sights as all ten locomotives were prepared for their days duties. 46521 was one of the last to leave and can be seen here just before it left for the station.
Ivatt class 2 no. 41298 departs Havenstreet with a train for Wootton. This was the first time I'd seen the Ivatt in steam - she was returned to steam in 2014 and re-entered passenger service in 2015.

Memories of west country branch line short freight trains, especially the 'milk' trains, were evoked on 1st March during Martin Creese's photographic charter featuring Ivatt Class 2 No. 46447. The short consist with the obligatory six-wheel milk wagon sit perfectly against the backdrop of the rolling Mendip Hills. Note the spire of the parish church in the village of Doulting on the far right. Mendip Vale station, the western terminus of the East Somerset Railway is tucked away a couple of hundred yards or so in the cutting (off picture) to the left. This was the very last passenger working on the branch. Regular scheduled passenger services had ceased in 1934! The line was closed completely a few days later and lifted. Today there is no trace of the station. The track-bed has been turned into a walk-way leading to Summerfield Park. A little further on from there, the bridge abutment over the Birmingham Canal can still be seen. The line crossed the canal and joined with the main line through Monument Road into Birmingham New Street Station.
Note on this picture the total disregard of modern Health & Safety directives. How much more pleasant life was in those days for the enthusiast!

Butterley Reservoir is the most distinguishing feature of both the area and of the Midland Railway, which crosses the expanse of water on a causeway. The reservoir dates back to 1794 when it was constructed to serve the Cromford Canal. It now serves as a major recreation area, frequented by anglers, ramblers, twitchers and gricers! The reservoir is well stocked for anglers as well as being a haven for birds. It is a peaceful place, hardly disturbed even by the passage of a train on the causeway. Arguably, the drifting smoke from the chimney of Ivatt Class 2MT No. 46521 adds to the feeling of tranquility, along with the reflection in the reservoir. It is engaged in a Martin Creese (30742 Charters) photographic charter on herd March 2014. Copyright John Whitehouse-all rights reserved
One of many to escape Barry scrapyard: Ivatt Prairie 41313 is undergoing restoration at the Isle of Wight railway
LMS Ivatt No. 46521 is pictured at the Great Central railway hauling the 'Windcutter' set past Woodthorpe, as she makes her way to Rothley. Looking at the photograph it is almost timeless, hence why i chose to upload in Black and White.
