The first Italian-built class 802 for GWR rolls out into the sunshine following its official unveiling at Hitachi Rail Italy's Pistoia plant on 9 February 2018.
This set is due to arrive in the UK in March, joining the three Japan-built class 802s already in the country for testing. The first class 802s are due to enter passenger service in July and all 36 sets will be delivered by March 2019.
GWR expects HST operation on services from London to Devon and Cornwall to end "around this time next year." Catch them while you can!

A South Western Railway service arrives in platform 6 at it's Waterloo destination, spot on time 57 minutes after setting off from Dorking at 07.30. On the right hand side in platform 7, an eight coach formation of class 158 and 159 units will form the 08.50 departure to Salisbury.
The arrival from Dorking is formed of a class 701 Arterio unit, which are gradually entering service with SWR a few years later than originally planned due a combination of reasons. The wikipedia link below gives more detailed information.
A Class 101 crosses Gauxholme Viaduct with 2E09 09:50 Manchester Victoria to York. 22/12/86. Unfortunately this location has long since been lost to tree growth.
Class leader EV1 is seen on a lovely sunny day in Dublin this bus, and a few of its family members have been reinstated due to a shortage of buses in Summerhill
This is the final picture I will post from our trip to France. It all concluded on our final night with a cooking class in Paris. Our main dishes were crepes and a fruit salad. There was not much of a learning curve for either but they were delicious.

An unidentified class 50 arrives at Hayle during spring 1985.At this time the first non blue and grey liveried coaches were starting to appear in rakes bringing a splash of colour to the railway scene.
My ever patience girlfriend Lesley sit's on the platform at Hellifield Station as Class 40 40073 rumbles past with a coal train we were on holiday staying in Settle and photographing on the Settle to Carlisle line there was plenty of freight's about to photograph mainly in the hand's of Class 40.s A great line to photograph on. A pair of former DM&IR SD18s from EMD's class of 1960 pass each other in Lakeside on the North Shore Scenic Railroad. Missabe 316 (186) and sister 193 were part of a 19-unit order that spelled the end of steam (and leased at the time GN and B&LE diesels).

In September 1976 Class 40, 40044 ran away whilst working the 7Z20 stone train from Peak Forest to Whitemoor Yard. The train was derailed and the following 12 loaded wagons ploughed into the rear cab. it was thought the locomotive might have to be cut up on site but it was later removed to Crewe Works, in a surprise move the locomotive was repaired, not emerging until March 1980. It continued in traffic until January 1985. The accident occured at Chinley and was photographed shortly after being rerailed.
