Class 40 No. 40024 (previously 'Lucania') works away from Kirkham & Wesham on 6th August 1983 at the head of the Saturdays Only 1428 Blackpool North - Edinburgh Waverley service. The tower and chimney in the background ar at Wesham Park Hospital, which was at the time served geriatric patients, and previously the local Workhouse. Q4001 is stabled outside of the Forrestfield depot painted in the Orange ARG livery on 6-7-08.
When delivered to Westrail the loco was numbered Q301 and painted in the yellow scheme

Class 170 No. 170639 passes through Gloucestershire with a CrossCountry Trains service from Nottingham to Cardiff Central.

In the twilight of their career I was fortunate to get a pair of Gloucester Carriage & Wagon Company built two-car Class 100 diesel multiple units sit at Blaenau Ffestiniog on 12 August 1983.
We were fortunate to ride down from Llaundudno on these. One of the sets was formed of 50356/56111 which I had seen sandwiched between a pair of Class 101 sets on North Wales Coast services a few days earlier.
The bloke down the pub says some continued in use until 1988 - was this in passenger or departmental service?
Seen about to head to Laira after arrival with the Chiltern Atmospheric 50 railtour from Aylesbury. 50033 Glorious partnered with 50050 on the return leg.

The Northern Belle is a private luxury train that operates day and weekend journeys around Britain from many different departure points throughout the United Kingdom. This Northern Belle rail tour departed from Birmingham International to Paignton and is seen passing through Gloucestershire countryside with West Coast Railways Class 57 No. 57316 leading and No. 57601 at the rear on 12th September 2020.
Class 104 DMU M50455 and M50517 seen on Brookesbottom Viaduct Summerseat which was constructed in 1845 and is still carrying trains today from Bury to Ramsbottom on the East Lancashire Railway.
