This isn't a contest, there are no winners, this is a challenge, and you are all welcome to partake. In fact, I challenge you to.
I've come to realize there just aren't nearly enough sets of League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen figs on here, so I'm challenging all of you (even those of you I forgot to tag) to make them. Either purist or non-purist, comic-based or movie-based, it's up to you. Tag me, and I'll add them to an album (Or invite them all to a group if I can figure out how) that I'll build at some point.
To qualify, you've gotta have
-Mina Harker/Murray
-Alan Quatermain
-Doctor Jekyll and/or Mister Hyde (doesn't have to be a big-fig)
-Captain Nemo
-And The Invisible Man (gotta be a physical fig)
Dorian Grey and Tom Sawyer aren't essential, but you can make em if you want for extra credit.
Unfamiliar with the team? Familiarize yourself briefly with this handy wiki page! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_League_of_Extraordinary_Gentlemen
Any other questions you may have, sound em off.
UPDATE: NOW THERE IS A GROUP TO ADD YOUR PICS TO! www.flickr.com/groups/4035126@N22/
Cheers, everyone. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!
I've photographed and written about my bookish qualities before, and once again I find myself directing my art towards that area of my life. And here is why...
At first, I usually have no idea why I create what I create... until I find myself looking at the final edited image. To explain a bit more - when I create my images, I never consciously understand the reason behind my visions - as I am sketching, buying props, looking for a location, I put trust in my subconscious to take me along the right path. Because if you asked me what I was doing/looking for at the time, I definitely wouldn't be able to answer you. It's only as I build the image and put everything together do I finally realise WHY I created it. I finally figured out that this particular image represents how I feel about the book world and the challenge I have set for myself with reading. The last book-related image I posted on here was while I was in a reading slump, however, I was still purchasing a lottttt of books. Books that would be placed on a shelf and, sadly, never read... I vowed to change all of that this year and set myself a reading challenge of #25booksinayear. So far I have finished 10 and I'm currently on my 11th, 12th and 13th. (Yes, I do read more than one at a time!) Which has proven to me that my love of reading hasn't disappeared, it's just a matter of having time to spare and finding the right books to read. Which brings me to my current conceptual image - when I stop to think about how many books there are in the world to read and how little time I have to do it in, it completely overwhelms me. I may as well be 3 inches tall and every book as big as a house for all the hope I have for reading them all. Hopefully you will all join me in a reading challenge of your own - reading is LOVE!
Thanks SO MUCH to Holly Rose Stones for ALL of her help creating this image, as well as her tutelage in Photoshop. I usually use GIMP, but this, I'm proud to say, was done completely in PS. Please take a moment to check out her one-2-one workshops if you fancy learning from a brilliant self-portraitist.

I - India Inspired
Take us on a voyage to a land with nearly one-sixth of the world's population and a rich land of intersecting cultures, religions, food, and history. For this theme, your photo must include a nod to the diverse country of India. Perhaps your doll is creating a meal of vegetables and curry in her home, a diorama with deep colors and embellished pillows. Maybe she's on vacation and visiting one of the world's greatest architectural jewels, the Taj Mahal. Perhaps she is ready for her Hindu wedding celebration dressed in a saree, golden jewelry, and Mehndi body art. Show us a piece of Indian culture in your photograph.

I wanted to show a modern India in my picture to highlight the glamour grooming and polish of some of the world's greatest beauties. Slick high fashion and the latest accessories are what it is all about - and the god Shiva of course but perhaps more Bollywood than holy temple! I decided to feature my gorgeous new Neo Romantic Rayna Ahmadi as she fits the theme better than any other doll I own and I wanted to create an image that links her to her identity - my perfect Indian style princess!
Inspired by Jade, I wanted to recap on the photos I have done this month in the challenge - and to see them all together!
Shame the weather didn't really turn nice yesterday... We're in summer in Australia and it's been awful, rainy and cloudy all the time. Not even fair :/
What do you think of this shot? I shot it in RAW, but I don't know if I actually like shooting in RAW. It's much easier shootings JPEGS, but everyone says shoot RAW with a DSLR?
For this challenge, my mind went straight back to fifth grade...when I learned how to make these corner bookmarks. Simply cut the corner from a sealed envelope, decorate, and slip onto the page. So easy. This one's for my 8 year old daughter, who is on a quest to read every "Magic Tree House" book in the series. The bird is mounted on a little accordion folded strip of cardstock, so that he pops up when the books is opened, yet lies flat when the book is closed.

Challenge #198: Water
She doesn't get that grin on her face playing video games. Before Addie does stuff like this, she always asks me, "Is it ok if I get wet and play in the water?" My answer is always yes. Kids these days have forgotten how to be kids. Let them play and have fun!

Backlit challenge. This was taken with strong back lighting using fill in flash. I like the effect of the light passing through the petals. I took many photos, most were discards because of lens flare and internal reflections caused by sunlight entering the lens. Taken in the Conservatory at Longwood Gardens.
