I have not been putting my hands on my camera unless I am travelling, and I wanted to take up some challenge to bring myself back to daily photography. Well, this is the first in the photo-a-day challenge for May. Check out the challenge here www.fatmumslim.com.au/2012/04/may-photo-day-list.html
First day's theme is peace. This was a last minute upload, but there is nothing more peaceful than lying down with your feet up in the air listening to some soothing music, at the end of the day :)

The Maury River is swollen from recent rains. It has class II, III, and IV rapids when it is at this stage. The kayakers were out in full force enjoying the challenge. We watched from an overlook which is about 100' above the river, so my images are not as close or as sharp as I'd like.
The SPARK Challenge is a campus-wide, corporate-sponsored design competition, hosted by the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Spark is open to all undergraduate students at Purdue University. It allows students to present their projects in one of two ways: demonstration only or demonstration and competition in the challenge, which is judged by ECE faculty and corporate sponsors. Teams compete for cash prizes.
Teaching martial arts does not mean that I am not a student. In fact it means I am more of a student. If I am going to be teaching this I need to constantly be improving and doing what I teach.
Too many times I see instructors turn into teachers and forget why they started martial arts in the first place. Some forgetting why they started teaching.
Getting out of shape and getting stuck in a rut. Not being all they could be. We all know that a rut is just a grave with the ends kicked out.
We have all been there. Any instructor, I have ever talked to has had a time where they forgot how to be a student. You never stop being a student. If I have learned one thing from my kung fu training, it is that I am just a student with a little more time in the art than my fellow students. And that I will be a student forever and I have the privilege of being able to teach.
We were in Traffic when we happened to see a new Challenger, for a moment I forgot that I had the 40D and just gawked, then I remembered and snapped a few pictures :D

My first easel card made for Caardvarks Lace challenge features a JRS Harmony Classic Circle Stamp. I used Imaginisce DP and PTI's Select White, as well as Spellbinders' dies for my round focal point and embellishments.
The Aviation Challenge is an annual get together of regional schools/colleges maths/science year 12 students for an introduction to the world of aviation and a fun day of competition building gliders.
From as far north as Berwick to Richmond in the south and Darlington in the west, schools/colleges turned up in teams of 4 (+member of staff) to build a glider.
We hope these budding scientists may be inspired to join the BEng Aerospace programme and HNC/D Aeronautical Engineering programmes.
Technical delivery and hosted by Hartlepool College of Further Education; lunch and programme administration by the Advanced mathematics Support Programme; Prizes and materials costs covered by Teesside University.

Challenge works to help incoming students adjust to college life while participating in some of the great community engagement projects Millsaps is known for. This week-long event allows new students to meet and forge relationships with current students and other incoming classmates who share a love of volunteering and community building.
