My challenge for the next few weeks is to try and get some good recipes for this crock pot. I love the concept of coming home to a warm meal during the winter but so far I am 0/2. I have about four recipes that I know will work: pot roast, red beans and rice, stuffed peppers and beef soup. I work a long day and discovered that my crockpot with a timer that goes to warm overcooks EVERYTHING. So I am going back to this. So FLICKR peeps email me what you have: buckchick1@aol.com
Let's hope the internet thing comes through for me or we may starve over here.
I used my laptop to watch Sebastian's videos while working on my desktop PC; I was still a bit lost but came up with something interesting anyway.
I used a Coreen Cordova charm as my focal. The green flower seemed to demand more than a simple chain.

Every year, one Michigan dairy farm is selected to host the annual MSU Dairy Challenge contest. Farm owners work with students competing to answer questions about the farm and explain on-farm management practices. This year’s event was hosted by Nobis Dairy Farm, owned by brothers and 2006 MSU Dairy Farmer of the Year Award winners Ken and Larry Nobis and their families, in St. Johns. For the Kaleidoscope Fun Group Challenge 28 (which has 3 different discussions points) you were challenge to make a kaleidoscope from a given photo - you could make three different ones from the same photo and enter one in each discussion. This is one of the three - Here is a link to the group - check out the challenges to see the starting image and other entries: www.flickr.com/groups/kaleidoscope-fun/pool/
The eagle presented another challenge as well. He is looking at a small white poodle. The dog is on the ground under the tree. The dog isn't on a leash and the dog's owner is about 15 feet from the dog. The eagle could probably get to the dog before the dog's owner could react. Despite my best efforts at sign lanquage the owner still was not aware if the eagle. Should I yell to the man and warn him even though I know it will spook the eagle? Should I try and get an awesome shot as the eagle swoops down and grabs the dog?

Edit me challenge wk 20
Photo provided by Nancy @ A rural journal
This edit is made up of almost entirely adding different textures. I think it's amazing how much interest textures can add to an image. First I did a levels adj. layer. Then I added my own wood texture and applied just to the bench, to add detail and interest to the wood. I did the same thing to the sky, using one of my sky textures. Then I went crazy with different textures until I got the effect I was looking for, with various opacities and blend modes. Removed some texture from the kitty, added a touch of warmth and pop. I selectively sharpened the cat and the bench, as I wanted the background to kind of fade away. Then, since I wanted something to finish it off, I chose a basic frame. In order to tie it with the picture, I chose three textures I had used in my processing and clipped them to my frame. I think the colour and texture of the frame now look better with the image.
Challenge 3: Past, Present and Future
Challenge: Use an inspiration from your past to create a look for the pages of Marie Claire in 2034.

I tried to go with a classic silhouette in a retro print. I think a funky and fun print will definitely make it back in style. The red belt and scarf highlight the tail feathers on the parrot.
I get docked points for unfinished edges, but hey, with a newborn and two other girls I'm trying my best, so I think I just squeak by on my design.
I saw a Skipper with straight arms over the weekend and was super tempted to buy her just to make dressing her easier, but alas, this girl is the season's model.
