What a great and very challenging month this was. Fun and great learning exercise!
Wishing you all a Wonderful and Very Happy New Year.
So at this point in the challenge, I'm just going to post the day's picture whenever I have the time. -____-
So today's theme is Gothic, but I don't have any gothic themed dolls so here's a weird little story I came up with one day while playing with my little sister's dolls.
In some third world country, lives a beautiful young Asiatic slave girl in a traveling circus. She was taken in from the streets to be the puppeteer's assistant, and she spends most of her time in the backroom where all of the puppets are kept. One day one of the puppets starts speaking to her, and tells her his sad fate of being a puppet made of scraps no longer fit to perform on the stage. He tells her that if she can get him to perform just once on the stage, his lifelike movement and voice will enchant the audience, making her puppet act famous so she can rise from her status as a slave. Desperate for a chance at a better life, she suggests the performance, and once her request is granted, the puppet's act is a roaring success. Every day afterwards becomes a struggle for her to raise enough money to run away and make a life for herself elsewhere.
The story was pretty dark with the question of the puppet being truly alive never fully answered. He's alive in the girl's presence and on the stage, but the rest of the time he's just an inanimate puppet, raising the question if he's really alive or just a part of the girl's twisted imagination.
This is what happens when I actually "play" with dolls. >__<

Here's a little math challenge for everyone - A coworker wished aloud for a thirty-six hour day. Given that I have that power, I granted him that wish. However, as I do not have the power to tear asunder the very fabric of space and time, I had to make each hour last only 40 minutes. Understanding that is not the challenge - the following is the challenge.
Given that the mechanism is a standard craft-project 12 hour clock the hands do not perform the proper number of rotations for an eighteen hour face. Because of this, there are times which can never be displayed on this clock which would be displayed were this clock properly geared. I'm looking for somebody out there to provide an elegant solution which shows what times will not be shown on this clock.
The prize... the prize will be commensurate with the elegance of the solution. Good luck!

I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it is to sleep in an actual bed! Ahh...
A few months before my trip, my Dutch friend Chris 1971 took a photo of this photography shop in Amsterdam and sort of issued me a small challenge to find this place. He did give me some clues at the time so I knew the place is near a street called Spui.
So one night after dinner, I set out to look for this place. I walked up and down Spuistraat for 45 minutes and couldn't find it. The northern end of Spuistraat is very close to my hotel. The middle part of Spuistraat is dotted with a couple of brothels, a number of sex shops selling both straight and gay pornography, restaurants, pubs and small hotels, as well as just residential apartments for those who can afford Amsterdam Centrum and Jordaan.
I was just about to give up and return to the hotel when I decided to make a turn at the southern end of Spuistraat into a narrow shopping street.
A-Ha! I found the shop! So here it is... a camera shop (fotowinkel) called Swank Shot Studio Spui that Chris challenged me to find.
Turns out that this street is called Spui, which is not the same as the Spuistraat (Spui Street)!

This week we were challenged to find the Zen without using any tangles or Tangleations known to us. I gotta tell you, this was very stressful for me. I stressed all week long! Then, this morning, I decided to clear my head and just draw. I found the zen and enjoyed drawing while I sipped my morning coffee. I have no idea if this is an existing tangle. If it is, I'd love to know its name.
Thanks for looking!
Jen took on a new sewing challenge...her first quilt! She had wanted to try one, but the sheer size of quilts was intimidating. This one is 5'x5' so she felt like shje could manage it. She's not certain she'll make another one, but it was a good quarantine project, for sure.

Six people suspected of being part of an organised crime group involved in a large-scale drugs supply and money laundering conspiracy have been arrested.
Bury Challenger Raids 02.jpg
This morning (Thursday 29 February) specialist detectives from GMP Serious Organised Crime Group and Economic Crime Unit, supported by district resources and colleagues from neighbouring forces, executed thirteen simultaneous warrants at properties and residences across Bury, Bolton, Salford, and Rossendale.
Three women aged between 35 to 40, and three men aged between 38 to 41, have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering. They remain in police custody for questioning.
A 38-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
At a house in Bury, police seized around £10,000 cash, luxury jewellery, and two air rifles. Several more high value items including jewellery and clothes have been seized from across the properties raided today.
This operation is the latest in a series of interventions by GMP specialist Economic Crime Unit, who over the last financial year, have forfeitted almost £14 million cash and criminal assets.
Detective Inspector Sarah Langley from GMP Economic Crime Unit said: “People are becoming increasingly creative in how they launder money made from illicit enterprises, and that’s why we have teams of specialist detectives whose job it is to stay one step ahead of them.
“This morning we’ve recovered significant amounts of money and discovered items that we believe has been acquired through the proceeds of crime.
“Money laundering costs the UK economy and taxpayers billions of pounds, with the illicit finance often being used to fund other forms of serious organised crime.
"Our team will continue to target those suspected to be involved, and we will seize their criminal assets and cash so that they can be reinvested into the communities of Greater Manchester who deserve it.”
