Exerpts From Shawnah's Blog:

....."I have always been an advocate of preserving one's culture, and having great respect for other cultures as well. One of my fondest places to visit, and getting giddy whenever I have assignments there and extra time to have a vacation is Bangkok. Recently though for the past months my favorite cultural city is in great danger. Heavy rains bombarded Thailand with so much rain, it flooded an area the size of Denmark, and now the waters are slowly flooding Bangkok. As I read the new invitation of THE Wilhelmina to be at the MAMAC for some crazy fashion and some of them modern art, I had a light bulb moment. I took the chance to coordinate with the art people there and went out of my way, to ba an exhibit myself... To raise awareness of the floods in Bangkok and even though the thais, as a race arent really cry babies and are not yelling at the world for their remorseful situation, I know they need our help, URGENTLY. I became the scale of balance, the scale that tips off whenver man becomes irresponsible with his deeds. Global warming making freak weather seems normal, floods all over the world that enundates both the human spirit and the intangible culture the citizens posses... but then, there is the other part of the scale, HOPE. Hope that one day when the waters recede and once again the streets of Bangkok become walkable again, people should revisit it once again like they used to before, stimulate confidence among locals that here is their beloved city rising up once again from the flood... a chance to recultivate culture, hear the bustling noise of the city, hear the cheerful and amiable way thai speak their language, and most of all, a chance to rebuild their spirits and set them high both as thai people and a nation..."

An old one but cute...………..

This is a photo of two male moose challenging each other. I believe they were two juveniles practicing as they were actually very gentle while they were dueling

Photos titled "Challenge" and "Shadow Forest" are large format canvas prints for a local Gallery. Both are photos from Algonquin Park in Ontario Canada taken this winter.

A new challenge gave me an excuse to wear my favorite colours.

OK I was searching for a pirate challenge and I came across the Delphis Castle.

I have limited knowledge of European architecture and so I may not know what I'm talking about but here goes... Delphis Castle seems to be a Rococo styled palace built on the much older foundations of a 13 century stronghold... As you explore you will find a definate difference between the two styles. This is an absolutely beautiful place and is fun to explore... I don't remember if you get a note card about it's history or not... sorry.

OK in order to get credit for this challenge.... DO NOT CAM AND JUMP to the final places in the castle.... take your time and enjoy the build. I've made notes on the spots I would like you each to look for.... take picture of three and post them on flickr and to the Pirate Challenges Group: www.flickr.com/groups/1480805@N22

Sorbon Beach (50, 60, 51) (slurl.com/secondlife/Sorbon%20Beach/50/60/51)

Here are the five possibilities for photo ops.... Use AT LEAST three (3) :) - Move your curser over the picture!!!

A picture of yourself seated below the picture of Luciano Povarotti.

A picture of yourself with one of the knight statues.

A picture of yourself kneeled at the tomb in the temple.

A picture of yourself seated in the king's chair.

A picture of yourself floating in the pool.

There is no time limit so take your time going there and posting pictures. Oh for extra credit.... do any of you know why I think the older part of the castle (stone walls) once belonged to the Templar Knights? Flickrmail me the answer to the extra credit question...

There are lots of painterly looks using the same photo! This was done in post.

Laurie...you're going to be the death of me yet...you naughty girl...

Just a reminder to Ohio Foothills' members that the challenge, "Heartfelt Christmas Card" is due on Saturday, December 12th. I need to get busy on mine.....

Columbia Gorge challenges

Challenged myself to make a quilt from scrap fabric. So completed this from leftover fabric from previous quilts, a white sheet which I cut up. It took an awful long time to cut and piece the strips. I was keen that the strips had no order no width stipulated so freeform as it comes. When I had finished I thought it looked a little pink, so I anchored it with Some dark navy fabric from my stash.

This is only one corner of it, I call it the picnic blanket and I’m really pleased it’s finished and that I completed it. It’s very jolly.

One of our ‘surprise’ baby tortoises from this Fall. Hummingbird feeder ‘flower’ for scale. It’s got a little ’snacks for later’ hanging on its mouth, what are you going to do ?

PLEASE START THIS CHALLENGE HERE:

Once you've gone thru the door you will find yourself at Club Drow... an dance club for the citizens of Avilion. As you take a quick look around you should be able to find a pit with a chain hanging above and you should also see the DJ booth nearby...

To get credit for the second part of this challenge take a picture of yourself EITHER hanging up-side-down over the pit OR using the DJ booth (which I think operates the designs on the floor). If the DJ is present and using the booth then do not bother him/her and take a picture at the pit...

LADIES... if you are wearing a dress and you are going to use the pit... make sure to wear glitch pants :).

If for some reason the booth AND the pit are being used then a picture of yourself dancing at the club will do.

Hulk Smash. Smash Pumpkins.

Sometimes humanity must offer a sacrifice to the automotive gods in the form of heaps of shredded tires. Therefore, the Hellcat was given form.

Large, In Charge and Lowwwwwww. The YP Garage gave this example 'The Treatment'. This beast came out the other side 8w, slammed, seats 2 and yes it rolls. Technically, it scrapes. At very, very high speeds.

I hope you enjoy!

I made it for a "transparent" challenge at mixim.

OK.... after you've taken the picture at the club... head back to the tavern.... say goodbye to Glenda then head outside.... turn right and head towards the dragon fountain... turn right at the dragon fountain and head thru the large stone gate with the yellow banners... as you exit the other side of the gate you will be crossing into the Avilion (Heart) sim...

You may or may not run into citizens of Avilion here... if you do please be polite. These are good people and usually very nice. Cross over the bridge (being careful of the pixie that will be following you across) and follow the trail a short distance to the drum circle...

This has been one of my favorite places at Avilion from my early days as a newb to present...

To get a credit for this final part of the challenge either sit by the fire or play one of the elven drums, or dance, or whatever else you want to do there... but take a picture of yourself at the circle...

One you are finished with the challenge do what you need to do with the pictures then load them up to flickr... then be sure to post them to The Pirate Challenges Group: www.flickr.com/groups/1480805@N22
