Second course was this cauliflower puree soup. Just cauliflower cooked in milk, pureed, enriched with the cooking liquid, vegetable stock, and cream. I almost broke our fridge trying to cool all the stock I made, by the way.

Cafe Voila entree, Feb. 10, 2015 -- Spinach and mushroom-stuffed chicken (wrapped in a single leaf of prosciutto) with truffle cream sauce and oven-roasted cauliflower.
So glad my appetite is almost back to normal, because today this was the entree, one of my favorites, at my favorite lunch spot. And I did eat all but a tiny bit of the cauliflower, so full, so fine, "several kinds of divine."
Sparassis Crispa, found it last year, discovered it's a tasty variety, but can't find any this year!

If you haven't had roasted cauliflower, you need to, uh, make it RIGHT NOW. Josh and I devoured all of it right out of the oven and I'm almost mad I've never had it until now. It's also low calorie and low carb!

We had our new dish for the week for dinner on Saturday. It was the cauliflower risotto with spicy pangrattato from Jamie's Italy by Jamie Oliver. The result was okay, but it was missing something. Adding salt and more parmesan helped, but I think it may need another cheese to help round out the flavor.
I got tired of photographing the weekly dishes all on white, so with the return of natural light in the evenings, I'm trying to do different things.
This year I have indulged my artistic leanings in the vegetable garden by growing different coloured versions of common vegetables, like this cauliflower; along with purple beans and Brussels sprouts .

I made one of my favourite dishes, cauliflower with cheesesause. Mmmmmm, I enjoyed every bite of it. (81/365)
I tried making this recipe again, using olives, as called for in the original recipe. I'm not a fan of the olives, but Darren really liked it.
