DARBY - AADAM - JOE - ANGELIA - CLAUDINE
(MONDAY)
Fun but difficult days. Difficult in the sense that you have to make quick choices amongst sometimes hundreds of people any number of whom could do the job. In the end you make the best calls you can.
Since this is a hair shoot, I have only so much say. I can determine who works well with the camera and put in my pleas, but in the end it comes down to the models' hair and what the artists can work with.
We made three solid calls...and I got my favorite model.
Tech shoot tomorrow
Art shoot Thursday
In the meantime it was disassembling much of the show from the weekend (since Amanda Palmer is shooting something for Current TV at SMASHlabs tomorrow) and prepping for the Brewery Artwalk this weekend. Doing an oilgraph performance on Sunday at 3PM and still have no idea what I'm going to do...
Thankfully days are only required of you one at a time....

The vacuum casting technology which uses prototype (SLA laser rapid prototyping piece, CNC products) to make silicone mold under vacuum, and is poured under vacuum conditions, such as PU, ABS, etc. Vacuum casting is also used to clone the prototype or copy the piece. It has different types including vacuum mould casting, vacuum pressure casting, vacuum sand casting and so on. This method is especially suitable for small batch production. It is a low-cost solution to solve experimental production and small batch production in a short time, and can also meet the functional test proofing of some structurally complicated engineering samples.
Advantages of Vacuum Casting
The cost is low and the production cycle of the product is relatively short. Less waste and processing costs are much lower than CNC machining and 3D printing.
It is suitable for the processing and production of small batch products. After making an original version, it can be copied according to the original version, and the production efficiency is high.
Good mold operation. The soft molds after curing are all transparent or translucent, have good tensile strength, and are easy to cut and shape.
The probability of processing failure is small. As long as there is no problem with the original, the copy will naturally not go wrong.
Good repeatability. The silicone for molding has good fluidity before curing, and the fine structure and decoration of the model can be accurately maintained with vacuum defoaming.

The first casting from my Adeptus Mechanicus mould. Not too shabby! :D
I need some decently sized Adeptus Mechanicus symbols for a terrain project I'm working on. The problem? No one makes the damn things any more. So, the only solution is to make my own.
I'm building the base model out of balsa wood and other stuff I have lying around the place, then I'll take a mould off it and make as many as I need! Theoretically :)
Stone cut for pewter casting project. You can see what a mess it is. :) For buttons, I'll be making a three-part mold (like the one on the left), so I still have to cut the back plate of the mold in half, but I want to do some sanding first. Off to the store for sand paper!

I showed up at this homemade foundry with a plastic Disney sword I'd gotten for my daughter. We cast the handle including in the cast a serving fork, to create the Disney-infriging pirate swork!
Amazing how many changes in representation have happened in the two years since we first cast "Scratching the Surface." Now that our financing is back, it's time to revisit the deals and renegotiate the contracts... with DIFFERENT agents and managers!

I have all these casting shots of people looking straight down the barrel. Holding numbers in front of them, hoping that they get selected for whatever assignment it is you are working on. This time I tried some off camera looks. Usually you know right away if they are right or not for the part. Casting is brutal, both for me and for them, after about 40 faces, everyone starts to look the same to me.
These fine actors, plus another few from our "name actor offer" and self-tape list, are getting closer to the finish line as we create our final session must-see list.

~~Living my dreams by helping others figure out how to live theirs.~~
Bom dia meninas, tudo bem?
Achei chique d+ essa cor, to me sintindo PHINA.
Vou colocar mais uma fotinha daqui a pouco mas não tem nada a ver com unha :)
Tenham uma ótima quarta.

This morning, I threw plaster casts of the orange mold and the mold of my own face. As you can see, by the time everything dried overnight, the plaster bandage layer had started to come away from the alginate layer in the face molds. I was surprised by this. It was still useful to have created the plaster layer, though, because it kept the alginate mold from deforming too much when I poured the plaster in.
The right thing to do, I found, was mix the plaster in a ratio of about 1 cup of water to 10 ounces of plaster powder.
