From March 17 through March 19, 2016, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD hosted a three-day bronze casting workshop in its boatyard.
Participants joined nationally renowned sculpture artist and Shepherd University professor Christian Benefiel to learn the intricacies of casting bronze, including creating molds, working the sand and furnace, and pouring the molten metal. Participants took home a working knowledge of casting metal along with their own creation.

I saw a group of fishermen with interesting hats. I was impressed by their skill and enjoyed watching this gentleman casting a net.

The shadow of the stones being 'cast' in the board game Harry Potter Casting Stones. An interesting note: this was an accident. I intended to get a photo that was not just a shadow of the action, so I went into burst mode to try and capture the exact moment - but it ended up capturing this shadow, which was a lot cooler.

My second try at the welding of these plates to a round tube. The plates snapped off after my first try. I'm not very good at welding yet.

Minimum Wall ThicknessTo ensure that the mold is filled properly, minimum at least 0.75mm. But we recommend a wall thickness of at least 1.5mm.
Maximum Part DimensionsThe size of the mold is limited by the dimensions of the vacuum chamber (1900 x 900 x 750 mm) and by the volume of the product (maximum volume: 10 liters).
