I saw this common redshank (tringa totanus) in Kumana National Park, Sri Lanka. The morning sunlight was very strong so that the bird cast a well-defined shadow. It would have been challenging to try shooting it from the other side! More at "Colin Pacitti Wildlife Photography & Fishing Travels" - www.colin-pacitti.com.

Taken at sunset at Lake Bonney, I was incredibly lucky the clouds came late in the day which creates a bit of drama in the sky. Earlier in the day the sky was almost completely clear blue. I had scouted this spot for a sunset shot months ago, so it was great that nature decided to play along.

Taking the dog for a walk this morning , before the heat kicks in :)

The branches, spread wide like a wizard of the forest casting a spell.

Another autumn day. Sun shined through trees and cast lights on the ground when I hiked down from Mt Kearsarge. Phenomenally trees, branches and ground were lit up. Took to use iPhone 17.

An old iron fire escape and ghost sign stand as silent witnesses to a storied past. Relics of a bygone era. Such clues are not just a field of study for professional historians but rather reminders of the fleeting nature of societal assumptions and the lifestyles that are thereby created. Monuments more instructive than a cemetery. A dying town and its founders still speak.

Fishing in Brays Bayou. Houston, Texas. Not so sure I would eat fish that came from this urban water channel. But, who knows, maybe I have -- "Eat Local".

Some shadows are so long, they arrive before the light.

The evening sun picks out each of the 4 wheel alumina tanks and casts its shadow across the moor beneath the viaduct at Rannoch.

66740 and 6S45 0625 North Blyth to Fort Bill Alcan loaded tanks snake away from the station stop and growl and squeal up the grade to the moor.

Project 365, 2022 Edition: Day 108/365

I cast a sweater on the knitting needles today. This is only the second time I've attempted to knit a sweater. It's for my partner. And it's a stash buster, using a lot of ends of sock yarn left over from his projects. I dumped the balls on the floor tonight to sort colours.

Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.

I took this quite a few months ago, it's one of the steel wire fairy sculptures by Robin Wright, she's found at Trentham Gardens. and is called 'Wishes'

It's a well photographed sunbject and I've seen some pretty awesome shots by various people - including this gem by my good flickr friend Jeanne - www.flickr.com/photos/jeanniedee/24047923904/in/dateposted/.

I've struggled to get anything good to be honest but I do like this one - I really wanted to go for a 'casting a spell over the lake' type feel but not an evil spell - more sprinkling the fairy dust sort of thing!

Iris van Herpen: Sculpting The Senses at the Brooklyn Museum

The exhibit presents more that 140 of the designer's creations interspersed with art from the Brooklyn Museum's collection. Van Herpen's designs have been worn by Beyonce, Bjork, Cate Blanchett, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. Using technology such as laser cutting the designer combines traditional couture artisanship and innovative techniques.

From the museum's website:

"Sculpting the Senses takes you on a journey from the ocean's depths to the universe's outer reaches. Step inside to explore the fluidity of water, the physics of motion, the perception of sound and light, and nature's profound interconnectedness."
