One of the experiments I tried a few weeks ago, using sheet dental wax. This one was a piece of wax with enamel powder on it.
Real potential here, I think!

This focus by wire lens has no distance increments externally and relies on an eyepiece reading. At f5.6 I should be focused out past the hyper focal of 7+ feet. Visually, I can't discern focus in a little eye piece, thus I focus to the horizon and draw the focus back to a close up distance. Watching the live view and focus magnification aid I will stop drawing back as soon as the focus aid indicates up close. In this case I got too close and was focused within the near hyper focal point. I think stopping at the 1/3 frame point might be better. As in, drawing the focus aid back until I get to the 1/3 lower frame point.
In order for a Wysong Rebuild to be made the orginal castings of each machine must not be cracked or significantly damaged. Here you can see a small chip in the casting. This particular chip will not affect the new machine, but we always want to inspect the machine for such areas to make sure they will not effect the performance.
