Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
~Mathew 11:25
Last evening, The Lord called my cousin Linda Home, ending her battle with Cancer. I will cherish each and every memory I have and be at peace knowing that she is at rest.
Happy new year all. So how many of you will be calling in sick today?
I am heading in very shortly. Should have taken the day off I think.
to the voice inside me calling me out to breathe in the fall colors, offering me a place to feel my feelings.
I felt the warm embrace of mother nature like a grandmother that is so delighted for you to seek comfort in her soft plentiful embrace...that she quietly continues to hug you long after you've let go.
I want to allow myself the companionship of solitude more often, the gift of time to be nothing but a grandchild to mother nature.
I know many of you all are hurting today, grieving the loss of a friend.
And I want you to know I carried you all in my heart when I went to the water's edge...

The Great Kiskadee (Pitangus sulphuratus) is one of the largest and most boisterous members of the flycatcher family. It has a big square head and stocky body. Named for its ringing kis-ka-dee calls, this bird seems to break the rules for the flycatcher family. Besides flying out to catch insects in the air, it will also grab lizards from tree trunks. It eats many types of berries and even plunges into ponds to catch small fish, tadpoles and insects. In the U.S., Great Kiskadees live in thorn-scrub, irrigation channels and in the suburbs of South Texas. Great Kiskadees readily come to feeders to eat fruit such as bananas, but they will also steal other kinds of food to, such as bread, peanut butter, and pet food. This Great Kiskadee sits above a watering hole at the Laguna Seca Ranch near Edinburg, Texas.

I looked up to see the lovely clear sky, and noticed this mast, bedecked with folded and directional dipoles, microwave dish, etc and wondered why I had zero phone signal.

goldfinch ~ carduelis carduelis (juvenile)
The goldfinch is on the RSPB Green status list.
This is one of two young goldies still being fed by parents. I watched for ages but I still couldn't get a family photo. As soon as a parent returned with food they followed into a bush.
It's a been bumper season for babies especially for the finches in our local area. The local dunnocks and robins have done really well this year too.

Here is a short hand-held (obviously) video I took of this Snail kite calling. A group of kids was boating in the lake next to this spot and was being amazingly loud even though they were very far off. You can here them having fun in the background. These kites have a very interesting laughing like call.

This is the rear of St. Teresa's Church on Clarendon Street, just off Grafton Street in Dublin. A monastery and chapel was founded there in 1797, and they allowed Daniel O’Connell to hold political meetings in the chapel between 1813 and 1829.

Ending winter was miserable and I'm desperately calling for Spring. This shot was taken 2 weeks ago and today we had first spring day with temperatures above 10 degrees centigrade. Perheps this photo helped. Who knows :)

Sometimes we are lucky but could wish for better light & camera! As I drove in the drizzle this morning with my wet gear on, I wondered why I was going out. I reasoned I had some shopping to do & there might be a couple of moths @ Titchwell & anything was better than staying in another day. Drove slowly round c/p, nothing. Parked & walked to usual moth place when I heard Turtle dove calling. Crept round corner & it was in tree, too dark against the light, then it flew down to drink @ a puddle. Juvenile came out of the bushes For a feeding. I had wrong camera in hand & used zoom of 1200mm & only got 1/125th sec speed so not best photos because of light & small sensor camera but so good to watch.
