I'd love to know your guesses on the original use for this little structure with its unique attached silos. Chickens, perhaps?

(Silo No. 1 and 2)

Happy new year all. So how many of you will be calling in sick today?

I am heading in very shortly. Should have taken the day off I think.

It was getting late, the kelp fight wasn't as much fun any more, time to call it quits....

The Great Kiskadee (Pitangus sulphuratus) is one of the largest and most boisterous members of the flycatcher family. It has a big square head and stocky body. Named for its ringing kis-ka-dee calls, this bird seems to break the rules for the flycatcher family. Besides flying out to catch insects in the air, it will also grab lizards from tree trunks. It eats many types of berries and even plunges into ponds to catch small fish, tadpoles and insects. In the U.S., Great Kiskadees live in thorn-scrub, irrigation channels and in the suburbs of South Texas. Great Kiskadees readily come to feeders to eat fruit such as bananas, but they will also steal other kinds of food to, such as bread, peanut butter, and pet food. This Great Kiskadee sits above a watering hole at the Laguna Seca Ranch near Edinburg, Texas.

Moose and wolves are common along the river corridor.

I looked up to see the lovely clear sky, and noticed this mast, bedecked with folded and directional dipoles, microwave dish, etc and wondered why I had zero phone signal.

I am calling this photograph "Ernie Hill", whether it is a hill called Ernie or that this field is owned by someone called Ernie Hill i cannot be sure? But the sign on the gate said "Ernie Hill" and it lies between the villages of Belton-in-Rutland and Loddington and Launde, right on the county boundary between Rutland and Leicestershire.

Here is a short hand-held (obviously) video I took of this Snail kite calling. A group of kids was boating in the lake next to this spot and was being amazingly loud even though they were very far off. You can here them having fun in the background. These kites have a very interesting laughing like call.

For over 50 years the giant Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank has been a familiar feature of the Cheshire landscape and an internationally renowned landmark in the world of astronomy.

Since the summer of 1957 it has been quietly probing the depths of space, a symbol of our wish to understand the universe in which we live. Even now, it remains one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world, spending most of its time investigating cosmic phenomena which were undreamed of when it was conceived.

And to think this is pretty much on my doorstep!!! :)

Ending winter was miserable and I'm desperately calling for Spring. This shot was taken 2 weeks ago and today we had first spring day with temperatures above 10 degrees centigrade. Perheps this photo helped. Who knows :)

On the Melbourne Star (think Londons Eye) this shot was not easy due to reflections etc, but i managed to get one or two good ones. I was going to call it Gotham, it reminds me of a dark and dirty image with the clouds and light just right before the batman symbol was flooded to the sky
