The beautiful female shiny honeycreepere was calling to her mate when this image was captured. Taken on our recent trip to Costa Fica. It is always so interesting to watch the interaction between the birds.

The Northern Cradinal (m) perches on a sunny branch and belts out his calls. A shy female hid in the nearby cedar tress and chirped back at him.

The call of the Stonechat is likened to two pebbles being knocked together and this sound is what gives this lovely bird its name.

This male was constantly calling to its fledged young on Dartmoor a few days ago and I was able to get really close to him as he perched on this bracken stalk.

"My dreams fade

Like stars at dawn

Flying on rainbows

Out to sea

Always returning

When night comes

And the shadows dance

Darkly about

On the cold moonlit ground

Holding tightly to the brushes

I can almost see you

Hands flying on canvas

Making precarious designs

As though touched by madness

If I painted during these dark hours

It would be of ships

With billowed sails

Bellowing with wind

Sailing far, far out to sea."

We can't fight against the forces of nature, they're simply too strong.

No processing here. Effect achieved by zooming in while taking a semi-long exposure, hence the "zooming" effect.

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them! Thanks again!!

I heard a fox sparrow calling, but it took me quite a while to spot it. Although it's in the open here, it was between two large clumps of blackberries, so out of sight except from this one view. Fortunately, this view had a decent background!

Red Winged Blackbird calling who ever is listening, and he never gave up.

I heard a call from off to the side of the woods, but didn't recognize the type of bird. I approached, peering into the woods as I came along. Finally, I found this red-breasted sapsucker perched on a tree right next to the trail - so close, that I had to back off to get the shot!

A moment of madness calling upon the Darkness

Connor has settled into his new paddock. He is calling to his mares, who are getting to go on a walk around the new property.

The house needs lots of work still. It will be hopefully be finished by spring.

Meanwhile, my time on flickr is limited. I don't have time to respond much lately. I do post a few things on my Facebook photos page.

So I follow my heart, though it's tearing apart.

I search for silence deep within,

to stop the voices that begin.

The whispers from the past, echoes in my soul,

never dies, never lies, and I cry.

We're standing in an empty room,

with broken dreams that I resume.

Where is strength to leave behind,

tell me where is peace of mind?

Cuz I'm calling, calling, calling to the core.

Help me, see me, find me.

Calling, calling, how do I adore?

Help me, show me, free me.

Lyrics from this beautiful song.

Somewhere in the sand dunes is a burrow and this Little Penguin's mate. They call to each other and somehow always end up in the right burrow. This litte bird is calling home.

A Stonechat sitting on the gorse constantly calling, a call that sounds like two stones being knocked together, hence its name.

Most have got their first brood fledgelings now and this one was keeping watch over his young as they flitted from bush to bush.
