The Midland Brewing Company has opened their Beer Garden, they serve beers from the bed of this vintage Studebaker truck

This brew room was constructed in the lower level of one of the most beautiful Bucktown homes I have ever had the privilege of entering. Complete with stainless counters, double deep stainless sinks, multiple fill locations, refrigeration and heated floors. Down the hall is just one of the home's tap locations. Used the Batis 25mm for this shot as well as placing a Fotodiox Flapjack on the floor of the room. I kept the reflections as in this case I need to highlight the stainless. I'm going for utility here over beauty but still... it is quite the room.

- 1 Fotodiox Pro FlapJack (4x11) lying on the floor of the brew room.

- Exterior glass door behind camera highlights that which is outside the room as well as an office window camera left.

- LR brushed out exterior windows to reduce the blue I wanted for the stainless.

Took me about 25min to setup and shoot (tripod obviously). There was a floor plan technician at the house at the same time. As I was in between shots she entered the brew room and accidentally kicked the FlapJack slamming it against the wall. Still works awesome.

For those of you who have followed me of late would've noticed I've begun to put up my working shots for the current challenge on the week ahead's Macro Mondays. This week's challenge has the theme of Brew and I thought I'd use (a 3 cup) cafetière. Now for those of you just flick(r)ing through you may not see any difference, and of course the theme and shot is very much alike. What I have a tendency to do is just alter a focal point, or indeed, add an additional focal point to draw the eye. You the viewer, as of course I do, will like some better than others (hopefully at least one?). I have left the identifications as shown by way of means to illustrate how I photographed them and then slightly altered various points ... thank you for taking the time to view my work, I am always very grateful.

That ball of fur is Brew. I'm so happy to get him back. He disappeared for a couple of days and I was an emotional wreck. It appears he found a crawl space in the attic and went on an adventure.

The large stainless steel vats of cider are impressive, but I like this little bit of glass with bubbles.

Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisville,_Kentucky

Louisville is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the 29th most-populous city in the United States. It is one of two cities in Kentucky designated as first-class, the other being Lexington, the state's second-largest city. Louisville is the historical seat and, since 2003, the nominal seat of Jefferson County, located in the state's north and on the border with Indiana.

Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, making it one of the oldest cities west of the Appalachian Mountains. It is named after King Louis XVI of France. Sited beside the Falls of the Ohio, the only major obstruction to river traffic between the upper Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico, the settlement first grew as a portage site. It was the founding city of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, which grew into a 6,000-mile (9,700 km) system across 13 states. Today, the city is known as the home of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), the University of Louisville and its Louisville Cardinals athletic teams, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and three of Kentucky's six Fortune 500 companies. Its main airport is also the site of United Parcel Service's worldwide air hub.

Since 2003, Louisville's borders have been the same as those of Jefferson County, after a city-county merger. The official name of this consolidated city-county government is the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government, abbreviated to Louisville Metro. Despite the merger and renaming, the term "Jefferson County" continues to be used in some contexts in reference to Louisville Metro, particularly including the incorporated cities outside the "balance" which make up Louisville proper. The city's total consolidated population as of the 2017 census estimate was 771,158. However, the balance total of 621,349 excludes other incorporated places and semiautonomous towns within the county and is the population listed in most sources and national rankings.

The Louisville-Jefferson County, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), sometimes also referred to as Kentuckiana, includes Louisville-Jefferson County and 12 surrounding counties, seven in Kentucky and five in Southern Indiana. As of 2017, the MSA had a population of 1,293,953, ranking 45th nationally.

Fourth Street Live! is a 350,000-square-foot (33,000 m2) entertainment and retail complex located on 4th Street, between Liberty and Muhammad Ali Boulevard, in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky. It is owned and was developed by the Cordish Company; it was designed by Louisville architects, Bravura Corporation. Fourth Street Live! first opened to the public on June 1, 2004, and all stores were completed for the grand opening on October 30, 2004. City planners hoped that the district would attract further commercial business development while providing an attractive entertainment venue for the city's hotel and tourist business as well as the local population.

Restaurants and entertainment venues in the complex include Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, Hard Rock Cafe, T.G.I. Friday's, Birracibo, The Sports & Social Club (bowling alley and restaurant), Tavern on 4th street, The Fudgery and the new bourbon raw bar.

Fourth Street Live! also has a variety of bars and nightclubs including Tavern on Fourth, The Sports & Social Club, Howl at the Moon, and PBR Louisville.

A mall-style food court is also located in the complex with restaurants like Subway, and Philly Station. There are also retail stores including Footlocker and T-Mobile.

Traffic on 4th Street through the complex is usually closed for large public gatherings such as music concerts and other events.

Some days are not meant to brew on.

I think today was one of those days.

I found a clone recipe for Chimay Red. A nice Belgian that I was looking forward to drinking.

I was going to brew in the garage but Deb said why not brew inside because it's so hot outside.

First mistake.

I was making a half batch. Two and a half gallons.

I thought I could use the induction heater because it heats up quicker than the regular elec. stove.

Well when you have all that water in there it took forever to bring to a boil.

After adding my DME and LME I could never get it to come to a full boil.It was sort of a soft boil and then it didn't loose any water so I finished with almost 3 gallons of wort but used only enough ingredients for 2 and a half.

Finally it came time to transfer to my fermenter and as I was siphoning out of the Brew pot the hose slipped out from the fermenter and warm wort spilled all over the kitchen floor.

So I did get about the right amount in the fermenter but I am doubting the results.

The recipe calls for an original gravity of 1.070 and mine measured 1.087

I'll let you know in about two weeks.
