My family's favorite bread recipe; whole wheat bread enriched with the sweet warmth of honey and molasses and the lovely cruch of millet.

From the inside, the texture is nice and fluffy and the crumb falls apart in small shreds when you pull it apart. Inside, i used candied mixed peel and golden raisins, vanilla extract and a bit of orange extract. I think for the next batch i may up the orange extract and possibly add a bit of fresh orange zest for flavour.

My mom always says: “watch your appetite. You can hurt someone just with your one leg” . . . But how ... when all I can think about (of course I’m exaggerating) is Brooklyn bread & chocolate croissant I had in Oyster Bay (LV)

Yesterday I decided I'd make some banana bread to complement the wild and rainy weather outside.
Below is the base recipe I used:
3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
1/3 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 cup of flour
No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

I only used 3/4 cup sugar since 1 cup DID seem like a lot and I threw some rum into the mix based on recommendations from people who commented on this recipe. I compensated for the extra liquid by adding a little more flour (maybe 1/8 of a cup) and it turned out really well. Next time I'll add more rum to it and mix it better because as it is I don't taste the rum consistently but when I do, it's amazing.
Also note the recipe doesn't call for any nuts but that doesn't mean you can't throw them in there. I didn't have any but next time I make this I am toying with adding pecans.
attempt at a raisin swirl bread. turned out pretty.

i will be making this bread for Easter. It's formed by inverting a glass bowl and wrapping braided dough around it. Once baked, it's a bread bowl. I will be using a rich brioche dough with luscious cardamon.
I've started making all my own bread again. These pans were my Mom's that she used to make bread in when I was growing up. You won't believe the torture I had to endure- taking my lunch with whole wheat bread while all my friends had wonder bread. LOL, now I am torturing my own children!
I love to knead bread, and you can see that most of my recipes are hand knead. But I got many questions from my friends who want to try but feel a bit timid. Knead bread is not a hard thing to do, you may not master at the first time but when you knead a lot you will know the rhythm and the nature of the dough. Even you can stretch the dough into a thin sheet, you can try by touching the dough and count to 10, if there is nothing stick to you hand, the dough is ready to rise. I believe that kneading bread is fun and stress relieves, I love the feeling that when I knead I always think about the people who I love and they will eat the bread after baking.
Ps. Most of us didn’t break the gluten by hand knead so don’t be shy to use a lot of strength in kneading.

Regular bread machine white bread recipe with 2 tsp. ginger and a package of dried blueberries added. I thought I would try using the dough setting and let it rise and bake outside the machine. The result of freeform baking is squatter than I like, though, so next time I'll use a bread pan. It's not very good for sandwiches, but should be perfect for toast.
