During Pi Mai (Lao New Year), any buddhist finds time between two beers and a water party to go to the temple to pray for the coming year. The tradition consists in blessing all the buddha representations in the temple by throwing drops of water with flower petals. This to bring them happiness and money for the future.

Blessing of the foundations of a new six floor apartment building in Chiang Mai Thailand by Brahmin priest. Buddhism exists side-by-side with, and to some extent intermingles with, pre-Buddhist animism and Brahman practices. Most Thais, whether or not they profess to be Buddhists, believe in a rich supernatural world. When ill, or at other times of crisis, or to seek supernatural help, Thais may enlist the aid of a practitioner who is believed to be able to propitiate or obtain help from various spirits. Local spirits are believed to inhabit a variety of objects, and shrines to them may be found in houses, businesses in Buddhist temples, along roads, and in forests. Blessing ceremonies to ward off evil spirits and bad luck are carried out both by Buddhist monks and Brahmins.

I clicked on the airport icon tonight and discovered that, should you need it, you can be blessed....wirelessly.... in my neighborhood.
Not sure what's in the air but too many are suffering. Too many are going through extremely difficult times. No matter how dark things may seem be assured blessings are coming. It may not feel like it at times but know they are just around the corner.
I think that is what she's looking at...the blessings that are approaching. She's surrounded by various shades of purple. A color that is truly powerful in itself. Not only is it intriguingly mysterious, it is also uplifting, spiritual and used often to signify royalty and nobility.
She has an Ankh (Egyptian symbol for eternal life) incorporated in her clothing which has been purposely placed close to her heart. She's rocking a TWA (teeny weeny afro) and fancy oh la la wings.
After Phoenix Comic Fest wrapped, I rented a car and high-tailed it for Page, where I had the incredible privilege of photographing Upper Antelope Canyon again--this time both by day AND night. It was a magical experience. There's a reason it's on every photographer's Bucket List!
This was my second time photographing the canyon by day, and I took to heart some of the lessons from my first visit: shoot RAW and bracket, use the widest lens you own, don't be afraid to get sandy, be sure to look in directions OTHER than the one your guide is instructing you to shoot, and above all, be sure to take a moment every now and again to tune out the chaos and appreciate the wonder of your surroundings. What a blessing! Nature is extraordinary.
