"A fern unfurls in the quiet forest, each delicate frond a symbol of new beginnings—reminding us that even in the shadows, life finds a way to bloom anew."
The term Sogod is an English term for beginning. And this was one of the reasons why the town of Sogod in Cebu started the Panagsogod Festival as not just a colorful celebration but a tradition in the local place.
Even in the legends of the town, Sogod is said to be the place where the white sands stretching far from the north really began and the place is also said as the borderline of the black and white beaches in Northern Cebu. The magic and wonder in Sogod have made the town not just a place to discover but also a place to unravel and explore.
The Panagsogod Festival brings the banner of the word sogod which means beginning. This is also a celebration festooned with colorful shades of street dancing and fiesta celebration of the town. The Panagsogod Festival is honored to the patron saint of Sogodanon, St. James the Apostle.
The Panagsogod Festival is an annual event in Sogod and it is just not a showcase of Sogod’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders but also it is the time for the Sogodanons to become united with each other that will promote unity and peace all over the town. Local officials from Sogod make it sure that every year, the festival is a celebration of the true Sogodanon’s quality and attitude.
In the town of Sogod, The Panagsogod festival is also one way of the place to attract foreign visitors and business that might have an interest in the town’s bounty and beauty. The Panagsogod festival is Sogod’s pride and life. It reflects who the Sogodanons are. It is also a true implication that it is a festival of new beginnings as shown from the different people gathered together to celebrate and have fun.
I was walking along, in wonderment at the suddenly cool weather and the excitement of fall, when I saw this lone leaf lying on the ground. I carried it along with me until I found the perfect place to photograph it. The simple falling of a leaf is something most people don't pause to ponder, but it can mean so many different things. It can symbolize a beginning or an end. It can stand for falling from a great height or being picked up at your lowest point. It can point to the fact that the possibilities of summer are gone, and the chill of winter is on the horizon, or it can remind one that with the changing of seasons comes a fresh outlook on life. To me, it's a little of all of them.

This image was capture just over a week ago at at a local woodland. The image depicts the Milky Way travelling across the night sky.
This was not the first location I had in mind prior to heading out. The decision to head to a nearby hill and finally capture the image, that for months had in mind would turn out having to wait a little longer, due to the wind and the cold due to it.
After being tempted by some new locations I decided to head to a nearby woodland, which was much calmer. I arrived not long before 2am and packed up sometime before 4am. In that time I had seen a meteor and a orange flash of light, which I did manage to capture.
Hopefully this image is the first of many. It was good to get out and be under the stars.
One of the first photos of fall shooting this year. The color was just beginning along Powell River here in lee County, Virginia.
Partial solar eclipse (from Tucson), August 21 2017. The forecast morning clouds didn't turn up, thank goodness.
Taking these shots makes me really appreciate a flip up monitor.

When considering now,
it was when sad history is started day.
But I cannot forget the beautiful day when that girl met me.
Even if everybody will forget that girl , I do not forget she's tender smile.
I wish a minstrel chants her loudly at least.

The beginning of a new project...I'm not sure where it will lead, or even why I am so fascinated by this heap of corrugated iron lying discarded in the woods. I think much of this will be shot in colour, but I started with a dark mono.
When you look at the squirrels ears, you see that it is quite stormy this days ;) Those animals are so funny! Hope you have better weather than we have at the moment. Happy Spring everybody!
before they all got so far away. Millions of Lesser Scaup in flight across Lake Apopka. Breathtaking sight to behold. Thank you, Jesus.
As Spring begins the crocus flower will be one of the first to bloom in Canada, even as snow continues to fall...
A new game for a new year. Celestia has been a big hit with the family over Christmas and seemed very apt for the theme. The game starts with a new beginning, all players are aboard an airship waiting for their captain to navigate them through the perils ahead (or you can choose to abandon the captain, take the points and watch them crash and burn).
I was considering doing this black and white with selective colour for the playing pieces to add emphasis to them, but quite like the lighting so left it as colour.
There might have been things I missed
But don't be unkind
It don't mean I'm blind
Perhaps there's a thing or two
I think of lying in bed
I shouldn't have said
But there it is
You see it's all clear
You were meant to be here
From the beginning
Maybe I might have changed
And not been so cruel
Not been such a fool
Whatever was done is done
I just can't recall
It doesn't matter at all
You see it's all clear
You were meant to be here
From the beginning

I shot this at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area back in May and thought I'd post it.
