End of day and beginning of a run for summer on the river.
Most of the snow and ice is gone. Taken around ten PM.
This was taken on 11/20/2017 at Potter Marsh, AK. This was the beginning of a pretty impressive northern lights storm.
Road Trip... early morning view going out to a desolate part of the Mojave Desert and then a warm welcome home on the return.
The beginning of a new day and the holiday weekend. I'm glad I got out early as I was treated to a nice sunrise over the lake.

Climbing a mountain at 6 in the morning is one great way to start a new day - Have a nice weekend :)
CEFX 1004 and 1012 lead a cut of loaded Tilden pellets through Eagle Mills Junction just as the fall colors were starting to pop. Just a couple miles down the road they were at almost full peak.
This is the interior ring of a sunflower. My goal was show the texture at the end of each stamen as the primary focus of the shot. Normally, this can be done using a cooler light to draw out detail. But that would take away the rich color of the flower. So I used a few light sources in different locations running different color temps. Pretty happy with the result. Amazing what is found inside a sunflower. The geometry and detail is striking.
I rarely use Photoshop other than to adjust exposure in the RAW editor. No recoloring, painting, cloning, or anything else was used in this pic. The flower is beautiful and interesting enough to stand on its own.
It is just about time for the Northern folks to head down here to sunny Florida for the season. The bridge is down, awaiting the traffic to come swirling down into the neighborhood...
What may seem like the End could just be the Beginning!

One of my walks is through a well shaded area of Mountain Laurels. They are tough bushes, native to the US mid-Atlantic states, meaning they have been here for thousands of years, perhaps because every part is poisonous and can cause death if eaten. They form clusters of white flowers in late Spring, and can survive in whatever weather Natures chooses to throw at them.

At the beginning of summer up in the mountains far from the crowded trails when the last remains of winter are still there and the scent of a new season is already in the air you can feel to be truly alive. Just keep exploring folks

so those who are fans on my facebook page know that i'm starting an 80 days of summer project! i'm really excited to do it, and i already have a bunch of ideas :) i hope it will force me to grow and get out my photography comfort zone, but also to keep me motivated. right on time, every late july/early august, i go through a midsummer photography crisis haha and i'm trying to avoid that this year. so wish me luck and i hope you'll come with me on this journey! <3
