Because of the safety measures implemented during Covid-19, there is a reduced collection of downtown Springfield, Mo regulars. Some, such as these couple of skate boarders, utilize the ghost town as a surrogate for their otherwise closed usual hang-outs.
I appreciate Dominic and his friend for inviting me to shoot them during their trick boarding session.
Because of good behavior during the holidays, Benny gets a present from Mummy Marian.
ME:
Benny?
I have something for you
BENNY:
Wow....a present....for me?????
ME:
Yes Benny..it's just for you
Because you've been so sweet during the holidays.
I know it is very difficult for you to share something when it comes to something delicious. I've seen you can do it and I'm proud of you. So this is all for you... just open the package.
Benny tears off the paper:
BENNY:
WOW!!! Mummy! That's a big one! It has more than 3 layers!
Thank you Mummy.....I love you so much!!!!
May I also give Jago a piece?
ME:
You decide Benny...it's your pastry!
BENNY:
I love Jago very much...he is my best friend and that's why he gets half of the pastry.
ME:
Well Benny...that's really nice of you.
I think Jago likes it too
because of our deep need to complain ;-)

The Waterfall of the Gods, Viking cruise excursion, Northern Iceland's Natural Treasures
Goðafoss translates from modern Icelandic as "the waterfall of the gods", a nickname said to come from a myth from Iceland's history. According to legend, after converting the country to Christianity, Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði (one of the main rulers of the island at that time) threw all his pagan idols into the waterfall, thus changing the Viking gods for the Christian god.
Because it sounds so much better than pond scum. Shooting the wetlands around the bay, I often find these shots of different types and colors of algae. From my Primordial Soup collection.
Late afternoon angle of the sun and a bit of a breeze kicking up some waves makes for a way cool coloring affects.

Because of a very cold May and the unexpected snow on May 9th, many flowering plants in our backyard are yet to set buds, may be they won't for this season. I was very happy to see the arrival of the little florets on the pink spirea this morning.

The Banjo Pier in Looe, so-called because of its shape, was the first and thus the prototype for many other banjo piers around the world. It was designed by Joseph Thomas in the late 19th century and built by Daniel Taylor. The pier divides the Looe River on this side from the sandy beach at East Looe.
Looe is a popular seaside resort on the south-east coast of Cornwall. It still retains a small fishing fleet though the daily fish auction moved to Plymouth, about 15 miles to the east rather than in the fish market on the side of the Looe River. Hopefully, as things pick up after the pandemic the auction may return.

I've just noticed some asters starting to bloom in the prairie areas we check out regularly. I haven't spotted any New England Asters yet, but I found several of these blooming at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. I enjoy finding wild asters because they are so pretty, but it is a little bittersweet because it means the wildflower and butterfly season is about over for another year. I must admit I am guessing at the ID of this. I also came up with Sky-blue Aster. Both are native to Iowa. Perhaps someone can help. The bloom is about 3/4-1 inch across.
Untitled because I don't now what kind of flower they are. But they sure are pretty.
I am not a "flower photographer", but I do enjoy the challenge of getting a good flower shot.
Because, sometimes, I just gotta go with the contrast.

Because now we wouldn't dream of living in any other house…
but this house…
the house we've grown into…
It turns out our dream house wasn't the house we dreamed about…
It's the house where our dreams came true.

Kiss your perfect day goodbye
Because the world is on fire
Tuck your innocence goodnight
You sold your friends like guns for hire
Go play with your blocks
And now you'll pay when these walls come tumbling down

This is a repost of a shot I took in 2010. I slid it a little more for Sliders Sunday, because I'm thinking of making it into an art print for sale (www.society6/MaitePons), and finally because I haven't been able to go out with my camera in weeks :-(
Have a great Sunday, my flickr friends! And HSS
Ophrys apifera (Bienenragwurz, bee orchid) Klosterneuburg, Niederösterreich, Austria. I had to publish another potrait because I like them so much.
because of the very dry summer 2015 River Wisła got quite dry so it was possible to walk on its bottom and people definitely enjoyed it!
This is the split rail fence that borders a portion of the Mill Valley Dog Park and is probably the most colorful fence you'll find anywhere, with lichen growing along its entire length.
I don't know what Flickr has done with the EXIF data, but I set the aperture at f22 for this shot, in order to get the entire length of the fence in sharp focus. Whatever Flickr's problem is, I hope they fix it soon because, whenever I see an interesting image, I immediately check the EXIF data to see how the shot was accomplished, and I really miss not having it.
HFF!
Because Mr Thaw caused Peter and Aurora's igloo to collapse, Mummy Marian built them a new one that can be used in all four seasons.
Mr Thaw won't get another chance to collapse it! Peter and Aurora's friend Scout from Australia was on his way when the igloo collapsed. Mummy Marian worked hard to get it finished in time.
And... she did it!!!
Meanwhile, Scout has arrived...
SCOUT:
Hello... Aurora and Pe... err... I mean... hello mijn allerbeste vriend Peter and lovely Aurora. I'm so happy to see you
(gives them both a hug).
AURORA:
I'm so happy to see you too, dear Scout, with your cute little nose.
(gives Scout a snuffly kiss on the nose)
PETER:
Oh...mijn allerbeste vriend...I'm so glad you're here.
It's been a long time since I last saw you.
Come on...we'll show you the igloo Mummy Marian made!
Together they walk to the igloo.
SCOUT:
Wow!!!!! It's huge!
I put on my Little Red Riding Hood cape. I thought it would be cold in the igloo, but it feels warm inside.
PETER:
There's a fire burning, as you can see.
SCOUT:
Oh... how cosy, and everything feels so soft, just like you, Aurora!
(sits close to Aurora)
AURORA: (giggles)
Would you like some ice cream, sweet Scoutie?
SCOUT:
Oh...yes...please.
PETER:
Are you staying the night, mijn allerbeste vriend?
SCOUT:
Yes...but I have to go back tomorrow.
Daddy Jesse is going to do a photo shoot with me and Paddy.
PETER:
Fortunately, tomorrow is still a long way off
For the igloo, I used cardboard, lots of cotton wool and glue.
Thank you www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/ for using Scout in my photomontage
Dunes, Soft Light. © Copyright 2022 G Dan Mitchell.
Details of sand dunes in soft evening light, Death Valley Naitonal Park.
Sand dunes are always fascinating subjects, both for their appearance as part of the larger landscape and because they contain almost infinite varieties of smaller subjects, textures, colors, and variations in light. I made a wild guess recently that I’ve probably been to Death Valley perhaps twenty-five times. You’d think that I might start to tire of the dunes or run out of things to photograph there… but there’s not sign of this happening.
We went to these dunes late in the day and had them entirely to ourselves. The light was challenging, as clouds were building to the west. As the clouds moved the light increased and decreased, but overall it remained quite soft the entire time. But this just provides another variation on how we can photograph this subject, and the soft light lets me reveal some subtle details that can be lost in brighter conditions. I made some post-processing choices here that highlight the variations in light and the soft forms of the dunes.

I use 'Sunsetting' because if you look on right side of the photo, they are building a new bridge to replace this beauty. The current bridge crosses between Lansing, IA over the river to Wisconsin.
As the year goes by - the view may be destroyed and eventually the bridge. (It is known as Black Hawk Bridge )
