Me,,, ridiculous pose, ridiculous smile... looking a little chubby round the middle but who cares. I was toting around so many things that day.... purse, camera bag, additional lens bag, camera, parasol... and I was bloody hot, hungry and thirsty.
Taken with Aryn's new Olympus720SW which I've decided that I will be stealing to carry around in my purse.
Very windy today (for Portsmouth) so we only managed a quick walk along the front, British Summer Time indeed . . .

The handle is crocheted in Moda Dea Ticker Tape.
First time around I managed to sew the lining to the outside of the bag. ugh. I redid all of the lining sewing by hand rather than machine, becuase of the round shapes this was much neater.

Finally I managed to make this bag as my weekend project. This project had been in my to do list since April last year.

I'm not that skilled at making dresses yet, so i made a very simple pattern in order to refrain from getting too frustrated. I wouldn't want to take the fun out of it now would I?

Witchery. It has 3 compartments - 2 outer pockets and a middle zippy thing. It's a bit slouchy too. niiiiceee.
made from the Pink Chalk Studio Mail Bag pattern in vintage upholstery and Amy Butler fabrics - I love this pattern! The only modification I made was adding a magnetic snap, as I am notorious for spilling the entire contents of my bags on street corners.

The grommets are fun, but the bag is a canvas for the knitter. Instead of grommets, you could add sequins, snaps or buttons. Once you have felted it, you can decide how you want to paint your canvas with the endless list of possible emblishments.
This bag would be a great first felting project. The bag is designed in a simple shape so that the knitter would not need to felt the bag to an exact size. If your bag felts too much or too little you may just need to use different D-rings to attach the strap.
Embellish your bag with grommets or whatever suits your fancy! Pattern available as a download (.pdf) for $3.
