This lavender bag (lavender both in containing dried lavender and being made from lavender silk) was sent as part of a purple-themed swap. It was made last year from leftover fabric for a weaving sample exchange. I wove it from 60/2 silk a friend had dyed. I think it is about 2" square, but I forgot to measure it.

Everything dainty and girlish has been crafted into this Melia Handbag in Light Ash. Flirty ruching details at the top of the bag and on the side buckles will make it oh-so-cute. Shiny brass hardware accents the light grey faux leather. Bottom of the bag is also gathered for a bunched look. A zippered top opens to reveal a creamy lining inside that includes a zippered compartment as well as two open pockets. Overall size of this bag is 21" wide by 13" tall. Handles measure 21" long. Man made materials. Imported.

Me,,, ridiculous pose, ridiculous smile... looking a little chubby round the middle but who cares. I was toting around so many things that day.... purse, camera bag, additional lens bag, camera, parasol... and I was bloody hot, hungry and thirsty.

Finally I managed to make this bag as my weekend project. This project had been in my to do list since April last year.

I was in a hurry, but I stopped back by Toys R Us and saw another version of the ice cream Kitty that hadn't been there before. I like this one much better and really want it! For some idiot reason tho (I think I didn't want to wait in line) I didn't buy it. I meant to buy it on my way back and forgot. >.<
Now I'm really bummed out and hoping it will somehow still be there by the time I finally can get to go back!
I'm not that skilled at making dresses yet, so i made a very simple pattern in order to refrain from getting too frustrated. I wouldn't want to take the fun out of it now would I?

A bag that came back for repair after being used to the edge of destruction.
1) It was originally made with elastic bads on the front corners to mate to the rack I'd made with it, but the elastic had stretched to ridiculous lengths (and the xpac fabric had started to wear through) so I sewed a cordura baseplate (with Ruthworks-style minimalist velcro tiedowns) and patched that onto the bottom of the bag.
2) the bag started with a single lid tiedown on the tombstone loop, but repeated cycles of heavy loads ended up tearing the tombstone loop off (whoops!) so I replaced it with Swift-style corner hooks & an elastic cord long enough so it can be extended to cover oversized loads without tearing the corner hooks out.
3) ditto with the front hook; that one was overloaded and tore out, so I stitched in a piece of cordura to cover the hole that was left after the hook tore out, then riveted another hook through that /and/ a sizeable metal plate backstop.
Witchery. It has 3 compartments - 2 outer pockets and a middle zippy thing. It's a bit slouchy too. niiiiceee.
For my everyday work bag I have a crumpler messenger bag that works quite well and I can convert it to a camera bag quickly for the weekends too where it can hold two bodies and plenty of glass, strobes etc...
But I'm really struggling to find something small and neat that I can throw the NEX5 in when I don't want to take a large camera bag with me.
Crumpler make quite a few that look the right sort of size but unfortunately they're mostly quite conspicuous and a couple of them even look bizarrely like a codpiece and so I'd be keen to hear from other NEX users what bags they've found.
Today has been a pretty good day in the office, I've made contact with the Intellectual Property guy, booked a meeting with a Professor who's subject is disasters... (I always thought you were a master of disaster, but that's probably from watching too much wrestling as a child), I've managed to get an unemployed graduate a job offer and I've completed a session in the laboratory.
Tomorrow I've got a quick steel job to sort out in the morning for another department and I may even take a wander down the anechoic chamber for a nosey...

made from the Pink Chalk Studio Mail Bag pattern in vintage upholstery and Amy Butler fabrics - I love this pattern! The only modification I made was adding a magnetic snap, as I am notorious for spilling the entire contents of my bags on street corners.
The paper bag flexibility game. Fun times... This was at my cousin Melinda's place up in Stockton, CA during our family's annual Christmas party gathering here. We had lots of good food, fun games, fellowship, a short service, white elephant, the distribution of all the Christmas presents with Santa, and simply enjoyed the time we had with one another on this joyous holiday season. Celebrating Bungie's 20th anniversary this year, only 777 Bags of Swag were made. They were hand-packed by Bungie employees and feature a random assortment of items that have been a part of Bungie Studios for the past 20 years.
The grommets are fun, but the bag is a canvas for the knitter. Instead of grommets, you could add sequins, snaps or buttons. Once you have felted it, you can decide how you want to paint your canvas with the endless list of possible emblishments.
This bag would be a great first felting project. The bag is designed in a simple shape so that the knitter would not need to felt the bag to an exact size. If your bag felts too much or too little you may just need to use different D-rings to attach the strap.
Embellish your bag with grommets or whatever suits your fancy! Pattern available as a download (.pdf) for $3.
