THE ALABAMA RENAISSANCE FAIRE
Begun in 1987, the official Alabama Renaissance Faire has developed into a major tourist event in Northwest Alabama. For the past four years it has been named one of the top 20 events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourist Society in Atlanta, giving it recognition by more than 800 media outlets throughout the region
Held in Wilson Park (renamed Fountain-on-the-Green for the two days of the Faire), this unusual event draws 30,000 – 40,000 people each year to its site in downtown Florence, Alabama. It is always held on the fourth Saturday and Sunday in October, taking advantage of the nice weather and the gorgeous fall foliage in the park.
Me,,, ridiculous pose, ridiculous smile... looking a little chubby round the middle but who cares. I was toting around so many things that day.... purse, camera bag, additional lens bag, camera, parasol... and I was bloody hot, hungry and thirsty.
Taken with Aryn's new Olympus720SW which I've decided that I will be stealing to carry around in my purse.
15 lbs for $35. (I bought some other stuff from her. Another guy wanted to buy this bag, but had no money. So I polenta him some dough.) www.ansonmills.com/

bag made out of suit pants and a belt. the belt acts both as the handle and as the closure for the top of the bag, which can open very wide.
made from the Pink Chalk Studio Mail Bag pattern in vintage upholstery and Amy Butler fabrics - I love this pattern! The only modification I made was adding a magnetic snap, as I am notorious for spilling the entire contents of my bags on street corners.
Handsewn Babushka bag, perfect for storing sewing supplies.

Our flat door doesn’t have a number on it (though it has a brass bell puller, which I don’t think has worked for a very, very long time) so I decided to engage in a bit of geekery and make us a number. (It’s darker green than it looks!) I also may or may not have made myself a pair of earrings which look like this on a smaller scale…
I made this bag when my daughters and i went to Ireland for a bike trip. We flew into Heathrow on a bank holiday weekend, so we spent the weekend with some friends. Sharon and I went to a local church flea market, and I bought two skeins of hand spun and dyed wool yarn. Sharon had an extra crochet hook, which she gave me, and I used up both skeins to make this bag.

We found this old Dr's bag at an antique store up north. We have seen them before, but they have ususlly been raided and are empty. We were pleasantly suprised when we opened this one and found it fully intact, right down to the crazy mirrored forehead strap on to look at you real good!
Celebrating Bungie's 20th anniversary this year, only 777 Bags of Swag were made. They were hand-packed by Bungie employees and feature a random assortment of items that have been a part of Bungie Studios for the past 20 years.
Elsewhere in another life, she may have grown up to be a beauty enough to grace the catwalk, yet her beauty never diminishes even in her present condition.
I always wanted to do a photo essay on the subject of street kids in kota kinabalu at its ironic that i only managed to get about it now when i was there for a day when i had five years previously to do so. These kids comprise of both locals and foreigners particularly those from the Philippines and Indonesia whose parents arrive here through both legal and illegal means. Most of then are without citizenships and thus are not entitled to education, health and social benefits that we enjoy, in other words they live in limbo from day to day. Yet if you meet them they are just like any other children with the innocence and joviality that only children can possess. Most follow their parents who are traders here or act individually to serve as bag carriers to the myriad people shopping for groceries at the Kota Kinabalu Market, exchanging services for a few cents of coins which will likely be used to supplement their parent's meager earnings to ensure that they survive the day with food and shelter if any are to be had. These photos tell their stories and we may have to look at ourselves and question who is entitled to be citizens and who are the foreigners, particularly in Sabah.
